WE CULTIVATE MUSICAL EXCELLENCE AND A SPIRIT OF COOPERATION IN YOUNG MUSICIANS THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA'S CENTRAL VALLEY. WE ARE COMMITTED TO PRINCIPLES OF ACCESS AND EXCELLENCE, AND STRIVE FOR COMPREHENSIVE INCLUSIVENESS. WE APPROACH RACIAL AND CULTURAL EQUITY BY PROVIDING RESOURCES THAT ALLOW AND ENCOURAGE YOUNG MUSICIANS TO PARTICIPATE ON AN EQUITABLE FOOTING WITH ONE ANOTHER. WE SEEK TO PRIVILEGE ALL YOUTH EQUALLY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE FRESNO ORCHESTRA SUMMER ACADEMY WAS HELD FROM JUNE 11-24, 2023. IT BROUGHT ABOUT 160 YOUNG MUSICIAN AND FACULTY FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD TO FRESNO AND PRODUCED NINE CONCERTS INCLUDING A FACULTY CONCERT, CONCERTO COMPETITION FINALE, FOUR STUDENT SHOWCASES, AND THREE CONCERTS OF THE FOOSA ORCHESTRAS INCLUDING AT THE DISNEY CONCERT HALL IN LOS ANGELES, THE SAROYAN THEATER IN FRESNO, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC AT FRESNO STATE. THE MUSIC INCLUDED TOWERS SEQUOIA, SCRIABINS THE POEM OF ECSTASY, AND SHOSTAKOVICHS SYMPHONY NO. 11 THE YEAR 1905. ALL THE CONCERTS WERE ALL VERY WELL ATTENDED AND HAVE RECEIVED GREAT ACCLAIM.


THE YOUTH ORCHESTRAS OF FRESNO CONTINUED TO GROW AND RECOVER FROM THE PANDEMIC DURING THE 2022-2023 ACADEMIC YEAR. WE PRESENTED THREE CONCERTS TO THE PUBLIC THAT INCLUDING ALL THREE ORCHESTRAS OF THE ORGANIZATION. THE DECEMBER 4, 2022 CONCERT INCLUDED WORKS BY SIBELIUS, VIVALDI, HAYDN, AND SHOSTAKOVICHS MIGHTY SYMPHONY NO. 12 THE YEAR 1917. FOR OUR ANNUAL FUND RAISING CONCERT, LOVE CONQUERS ALL, THE YOUTH ORCHESTRAS FEATURED GUEST ARTISTS, THE FAMOUS TENOR SCOTT PIPER AND SOPRANO MARIA BRIGGS IN ARIAS AND OVERTURES BY BIZET, DE CURTIS, DI CAPUA, GOUNOD, MASCAGNI, MOZART, NICOLAI, PUCCINI, AND VERDI. FOR THE FINAL CONCERT, YOUTH MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA, THE ORCHESTRAS PERFORMED WORKS BY MUSSORGSKY, PROKOFIEV, STAMITZ, ROSSINI, AND CLOSED THE SEASON WITH TCHAIKOVSKYS SYMPHONY NO. 4, A TOUR DE FORCE AND ONE OF THE MOST RECOGNIZED AND CHALLENGING CLASSICAL WORKS FOR ORCHESTRA
