Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

HOME PLACE OF TEXAS IS A NON-DENOMINATIONAL CHRIST-CENTERED COMMUNITY FOR ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES RESIDENTIAL SERVICES (PROGRAM ENDED SEPT 2019), DAY HABILITATION SERVICES, BIBLE STUDY, IMPROVEMENT OF LIFE SKILLS AND JOB SKILLS, AND RECREATION. OUR MISSION IS TO TEACH ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES THAT GOD LOVES THEM AND HAS A PLAN FOR THEM - A PLAN FOR GOOD. OUR GOAL IS THAT PARTICIPANTS WILL COME TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE WONDERFULLY MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD. OUR AIM IS FOR PARTICIPANTS TO BECOME MORE INDEPENDENT AND MATURE ADUTS AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY WHERE THEY LIVE.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE DAY PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2008. WE EXPANDE OUR SPACE SUBSTANTIALLY IN 2010 AS THE PROGRAM DOUBLE IN SIZE. THE PROGRAM CONTINUED TO FLOURISH AND, WITH FUNDS OBTAINED FROM A GRANT, OUR FACILITIES WERE EXPANDED SIGNIFICANTLY IN 2012. WE SERVE OVER 200 ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES EACH WEEK. THE PURPOSE OF THE DAY PROGRAM ARE TO CONTINUE LIFE-LONG LEARNING, AND TO LEARN AND PRACTICE WORK AND SOCIAL SKILLS, LEARN TO BE A TEAM MEMBER, TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACTIONS, AND GAIN WORK EXPERIENCE. PARTICIPANTS ARE PROVIDED NUMEROUS OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER IN THE COMMUNITY AND DEVELOP WORK SKILLS AND APPOPRIATE WORKPLACE BEHAVIOR UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A JOB COACH. THESE ACTIVITIES TEACH THE ATTRIBUTES NECESSARY TO SUCCESSFULLY WORK IN THE COMMUNITY. WE HIRED A JOB COACH IN 2012 AND A SECON JOB COACH IN 2013 TO EXPAND OUR OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERING IN ELDERLY CARE FACILITIES, CHURCHES, AND OTHER NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. THESE ACTIVITIES ALLOW OUR PARTIIPANTS TO GAIN MUCH NEEDED EXPERIENCE IN THE WORK PLACE WITH SUPERVISION SO THAT THEIR WORK SKILLS INPROVE. THEY ALSO LEARN APPROPRIATE WORKPLACE BEHAVIOR. THE RESIDENTIAL SERVICE PROGRAM WAS DISCONTINUED IN SEPTEMBER 2019.
