HCCC ADVANCES EDUCATION ABOUT THE PROCESS, PRODUCT AND HISTORY OF CRAFT BY PRESENTING ALL ASPECTS OF CONTEMPORARY CRAFT TO THE HOUSTON COMMUNITY THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION, EXHIBITS, AND ARTIST RESIDENCIES.

EXHIBITIONS - PRESENTED SIX MAJOR EXHIBITIONS SHOWCASING VARIOUS CRAFT MEDIA INCLUDING CERAMICS, FIBER, GLASS, WOOD, METAL AND MIXED MEDIA.


ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM - COMPETITIVE AWARDS TO UP TO 10 ARTIST PER YEAR FOR 6 TO 12 MONTH RESIDENCIES WHICH INCLUDE A MODEST STIPEND, INTERNET, OVERHEAD AND INDIVIDUAL STUDIO SPACE. ARTISTS ARE REQUIRED TO OPEN THEIR STUDIOS 24 HOURS EACH WEEK TO INTERACT WITH THE PUBLIC.


EDUCATION AND OUTREACH - WORKSHOPS, TOURS, AFTERSCHOOL, AND IN-SCHOOL INTENSIVE PROGRAMS. FREE PUBLIC ACTIVITIES SUCH AS DEMONSTRATIONS, FAMILY-DAY CRAFT MAKING ACTIVITIES AND OPEN GALLERIES.


CRAFT EXHIBIT AND SALES GALLERY THAT ADVANCES EDUCATION ABOUT CRAFT BY DISPLAYING CRAFTS AND PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTIC PROCESS AND THE CRAFTSPERSONS.
