Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

CULTURAL ARTS PRODUCTION AND PRESENTATION - THE MISSION OF THE SUGAR LAND CULTURAL ARTS FOUNDATION (SLCAF) IS TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND TOURISM IN SUGAR LAND AND FORT BEND COUNTY BY ADVOCATING, SUPPORTING, AND PROMOTING THE CULTURAL ARTS THROUGH PROGRAMS, INITIATIVES, AND ALLIANCES. SLCAF ENDEAVORS TO PRESERVE AND PRESENT THE SUGAR LAND AUDITORIUM AS A VENUE FOR CULTURAL ARTS AND A RESOURCE FOR THE COMMUNITY. IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL, SLCAF HAS PRESENTATIONS FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. IN A TYPICAL YEAR, APPROXIMATELY 15,000 AUDIENCE MEMBERS SAW THESE PRODUCTIONS. IN 2020 & 2021, DUE TO COVID-19, LIVE, IN-PERSON PRESENTATIONS WERE HALTED; THIS HAS CONTINUED INTO 2022.

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH - IN COLLABORATION WITH SEVERAL LOCAL/REGIONAL NON-PROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATIONS, SLCAF HOSTS YOUTH AND ADULT MUSICALS, DANCE PRODUCTIONS, ORCHESTRA PERFORMANCES, COMMUNITY HERITAGE TALKS, PERFORMING ARTS LECTURES, AND SEVERAL PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOPS AND SHOWCASES FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS. IN A TYPICAL YEAR, APPROXIMATELY 700-800 AREA STUDENTS (K-12) PARTICIPATE IN THESE WORKSHOPS AND SHOWCASES. THEY ALSO PRODUCE ORIGINAL MUSICAL NUMBERS FOR THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING GALA, WHICH IS ATTENDED BY NEARLY 250 AREA RESIDENTS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS. THEY WERE ABLE TO HOST THE FUNDRAISING GALA IN 2020, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT FOR 2021 DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS. IN APRIL 2022, THEY PLAN TO HOLD THEIR FIRST EVER ART FESTIVAL. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR MORE INFORMATION.

CULTURAL TOURISM & ARTS ADVOCACY - SLCAF HAS A FORMAL PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CITY AS SUGAR LAND'S AGENCY FOR THE ARTS & CULTURAL SECTOR. STATE-WIDE, SLCAF IS ALSO ONE OF LESS THAN 20 OFFICIALLY DESIGNATED TEXAS STATE ARTS ADVOCACY ORGANIZATIONS DESIGNATED BY THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR & TEXANS FOR THE ARTS. IN THE SUGAR LAND / FORT BEND COUNTY REGION, SLCAF HAS VERY ACTIVE PARTNERSHIPS WITH CITY & COUNTY GOVERNMENT, FORT BEND ISD, (16) AREA NON-PROFITS, (40-50) CORPORATE PARTNERS, NUMEROUS PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AT LARGE.
