OUR PURPOSE IS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT IN THE YUCATAN PENINSULA OF MEXICO, INCLUDING BUT NOT BEING LIMITED TO PRESERVATION OF THE LIFE ON THE OFFSHORE REEF, PROTECTION OF AQUATIC OR MARINE LIFE, ENCOURAGE BETTER WASTE DISPOSAL PROGRAMS TO PREVENT OCEANIC DUMPING OF SOLID AND LIQUID WASTE AND OTHER SUBSTANCES SUCH AS CHEMICALS WHICH WOULD ENDANGER MARINE LIFE IN THE PENINSULA.

THE HALF MOON BAY SARGASSUM (HMBS) PROJECT INVOLVES CONSTRUCTING A BARRIER TO KEEP THE SEAWEED OUT OF HALF MOON BAY IN AKUMAL.


CENTRO ECOLOGIO AKUMAL (CEA) IS AN INVESTIGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP WITH A WIDE RANGE OF RESEARCH AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS AIMED AT STUDYING AND PROTECTING MESOAMERICAN CORAL REEF ECOREGION FROM THE EFFECTS OF UNINFORMED DEVELOPMENT.
