COMMUNITY INITIATIVES - THE FOUNDATION FOR COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT (FCE) FOSTERS EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES BY HELPING PEOPLE IN FORGOTTEN NEIGHBORHOODS ARTICULATE A COMMON AGENDA, EXERCISE THEIR OWN CAPACITY FOR INTERNAL CHANGE, AND FORGE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH EXTERNAL INSTITUTIONS AND POWER STRUCTURES.


EDUCATIONAL/INSTITUTIONAL CHANGE - FCE WORKS TO IDENTIFY SYSTEMIC PROBLEMS ENDEMIC TO DISTRESSED NEIGHBORHOODS AND TO COLLABORATE WITH MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TO FIND AND IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS. IMPROVING THE AREA OF EDUCATION IS PARAMOUNT FOR SELF SUFFICIENCY AND EQUAL ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL TO PARTICIPATE EQUALLY IN CIVIC AND POLITICAL LIFE REGARDLESS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS.
