DENNISTON HILL'S MISSION IS TO CREATE A SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH TO PURSUE ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH RESIDENCES, EXHIBITIONS, AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND FOSTER DIALOGUE ACROSS DISCIPLINES.

Part 3 - Line 4a

ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM AND RELATED PUBLIC PROGRAMS FOR ANNUAL RESIDENCY PROGRAM. EACH YEAR WE HOST 20-25 ARTIST TO SPEND 1 MONTH AT OUR 200-ACRE CAMPUS TO CREATE NEW WORK AND EXPERIMENT WITH NEW IDEAS. ARTISTS RECEIVE A PRO-RATED STIPEND AND ARE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR TRAVEL.DISTINGUISHED PERFORMANCE ARTIST AWARD (DPAA) AND RELATED WORKSHOP. THE AWARD IS GIVEN FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE FIELD OF PERFORMANCE ART TO MUTIDISCIPLINARY ARTISTS BLURRING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE GENRE AND EXPLORING SOCIAL ISSUES. IN ADDITION TO RECEIVING A CASH AWARD, AWARDEES ARE IN RESIDENCE FOR ONE MONTH. AS PART OF THE RESIDENCY, THE DPAA ARTIST LEADS A FIVE DAY WORKSHOP THAT SUPPORTS UP TO EMERGING ARTIST PER YEAR IN DEEPENING THEIR CREATIVE PRACTICES. THE WORKSHOP CULMINATES IN A PUBLIC PERFORMANCE AT OUR ANNUALOPEN HOUSE, WHICH TAKES PLACE IN THE SUMMER ON OUR CAMPUS.PUBLIC PROGRAMS OFFERED YEAR-ROUND IN NEW YORK CITY FEATURING ALUMNI AS WELL AS OTHER ARTISTS AND CULTURAL PRODUCERS. THESE TALKS, PERFOMANCES, SEMINARS, POETRY READINGS AND EVENTS CONTRIBUTE TO THE ARTS DISCOURSE AND SERVE UNDER-RECOGNIZED ARTISTS AND COMMUNITIES, MANY OF HWO ARE OF COLOR. THE EVENTS HAVE BOLSTERED OUR PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS AS WELL AS HELPED RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF OUR WORK.
