SALVAGE VANGUARD THEATER (SVT) SERVES AS A HUB FOR AUSTIN ARTISTS, AUDIENCES, AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS. SVT PRODUCES TRANSFORMATIVE, HIGH-QUALITY ARTISTIC EXPERIENCES THAT FOSTER EXPERIMENTATION AND CONVERSATION.

IN 2022, SVT HOSTED TWO MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS, ONE DEVELOPMENTAL WORKSHOP EVENT, A PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERIES, A MONTHLY EXPERIMENTAL INCUBATOR FOR PERFORMING ARTISTS, AND ONE COMMUNITY GATHERING. WE STARTED THE YEAR WITH A WORKS PROGRESS AUSTIN DEVELOPMENTAL WORKSHOP AND PUBLIC SHARING FOR BRIGHT MOTHER: AN INVITATION TO BEING BY RACHEL LONG AND SAD JONES WHICH WOULD THEN PREMIERE AS ONE OF OUR MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS IN THE SPRING. OUR SECOND MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION TOOK PLACE IN THE FALL AND FEATURED A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BLANTON MUSEUM OF ART FOR THE WORLD PREMIERE OF CASTA BY ADRIENNE DAWES. WE ALSO PARTNERED WITH NEW MANIFEST THEATRE TO HOST THEIR OUTDOOR PRODUCTION OF BLKS BY AZIZA BARNES. WE ALSO COMPLETED OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE FOR ARTISTS IN COLLABORATION WITH EARLY ERA COLLECTIVE WITH THE THIRD INSTALLMENT, EMBOLDEN PART III: DEMAND YOUR WORTH LED BY FLORINDA BRYANT. CHOKE INCUBATOR WAS A NEW INITIATIVE CO- PRODUCED WITH GRACKLE JACK AIMED TO EMPOWER THE CREATION OF NEW WORK. ARTISTS SELECTED FOR THE CHOKE INCUBATOR COHORT MET ONCE A MONTH FOR FOUR MONTHS TO SHARE, EXPERIMENT, AND PARTICIPATE IN ARTIST-LED FEEDBACK. WE ALSO HOSTED A SUMMER SAUNA GATHERING FEATURING FOURTEEN COLLABORATORS AND A DYNAMIC RANGE OF PERFORMANCE
