TO EDUCATE, ENLIST AND INVOLVE VOLUNTEERS IN OU HEALTH/THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA MEDICAL CENTER PROGRAMS CHANGING PATIENTS, VISITORS AND STAFF LIVES THROUGH COMPASSION AND GOODWILL.

AS THE IMPACT OF COVID LESSENED, ACCESS TO THE HOSPITAL INCREASED AND WE WERE GRADUALLY ABLE TO INCREASE GIFT SHOP HOURS AND CONDUCT A LIMITED SUMMER TEEN PROGRAM THAT ALLOWS TEENS TO VOLUNTEER AND LEARN ABOUT THE MEDICAL PROFESSION. WE WERE ABLE TO PROVIDE OVER 5,200 VOLUNTEER HOURS WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF APPROXIMATELY $156,000 PROVIDING SUCH SERVICES AS ALMOST 3,700 INDIVIDUAL PET THERAPY CONTACTS DURING THE YEAR, INFORMATION DESK FOR HELP AND CONCERNS AND DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION AS WELL OTHER VOLUNTEER PROJECTS. FUNDING FOR THE OUTREACH WAS PROVIDED BY OPERATING THE HOSPITAL GIFT SHOP AND OTHER FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES.
