GENERAL OVERVIEW: DURING THE 2021-22 FISCAL YEAR, CAMPUS COMPACT OF OREGON (CCOR) WORKED DILIGENTLY TO DEVELOP NEW COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS TO PROMOTE RACIAL, ECONOMIC, AND SOCIAL JUSTICE ACROSS OREGON. ALONG WITH THIS, THE AGENCY TURNED ITS PRIORITIES TO ADDRESSING THE IMPACTS OF COVID- 19 ON HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. TO MEET THESE GOALS, CCOR DEVELOPED INITIATIVES THAT RESPONDED DIRECTLY TO THE ARTICULATED NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITIES THE ORGANIZATION SERVES; BLACK, INDIGENOUS, AND PEOPLE OF COLOR, LGBTQ2SAI+ PEOPLE, IMMIGRANTS, MIGRANTS, REFUGEES, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, AND LOW-INCOME PEOPLE. INFORMALLY, OUR ORGANIZATION ALSO SUPPORTS INCARCERATED AND FORMERLY INCARCERATED PEOPLE, UNHOUSED PEOPLE, AND YOUTH. CCOR'S INVESTMENT IN THE COMMUNITY HAS RESULTED IN NEW FUNDING STREAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES. OUR UNIQUE PROGRAMS ARE 1.) THE ASPIRING BIPOC EDUCATORS PROGRAM, 2.) LGBTQ2SAI+ AND BLACK STUDENT SUCCESS NETWORK, 3) PORTLAND UNITED AGAINST HATE, 4.) HIGHER EDUCATION IN PRISON PARTNERSHIP. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO CONTINUED TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF OUR PRE-EXISTING PROGRAMMING. 5) THE CONNECT2COMPLETE/EQUITABLE PATHWAYS PROGRAM WAS REDESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF IDENTITY AFFIRMING CURRICULUM AND STUDENTS' SOCIAL EMOTION WELL-BEING; 6) AMERICORPS VISTA DEVELOPED NEW PROGRAM PARTNERSHIPS WITH DISABILITY AND RACIAL JUSTICE-FOCUSED ORGANIZATIONS AND IN-SCHOOL PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION TO THIS, THE VISTA PROGRAM SUPPORTED CAPACITY-BUILDING PROJECTS IN RURAL COMMUNITIES, RESULTING IN WRAP-AROUND SERVICES BEING MADE AVAILABLE ON COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAMPUSES LIKE CLATSOP COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 1.) ASPIRING BIPOC EDUCATORS PROGRAM: DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THE LACK OF REPRESENTATION OF BLACK, INDIGENOUS, AND PEOPLE OF COLOR IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP POSITIONS, THE ASPIRING BIPOC TEACHER'S PROGRAM IS FUNDED BY A PLANNING GRANT FROM OREGON SERVES AND THE HIGHER EDUCATION COORDINATING COMMISSION. THE PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE STUDENTS FROM RACIALLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES WITH PAID COMMUNITY-BASED STUDENT TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES, TEACHER MENTORS, RACIAL JUSTICE AND RADICAL PEDAGOGIES CURRICULUM, AND A COHORT OF SUPPORTIVE PEERS. THE INITIAL PROGRAM RESEARCH AND PARTNERSHIP BUILDING TOOK PLACE DURING FY 21/22, AND THE PROGRAM RESEARCH IS CURRENTLY UNDERWAY. FINALLY, OUR OFFICE PROVIDED A PLETHORA OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO AMERICORPS MEMBERS SERVING AT SITES ACROSS THE STATE. 2.) LGBTQS2AI+ AND BLACK STUDENT SUCCESS NETWORK: CCOR'S PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED BASED ON EVIDENCE AND TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR COMMUNITIES. DURING THE LAST YEAR, CCOR HAS WORKED WITH AFFINITY-BASED STATE STUDENT SUCCESS PLANS TO IDENTIFY WAYS TO ADDRESS PRESSING ISSUES IMPACTING STUDENTS WITH INTERSECTIONAL IDENTITIES. OUR ORGANIZATION HAS A LONG HISTORY OF DESIGNING AND FACILITATING WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING FOR STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND FACULTY REGARDING RACE, GENDER, SEXUALITY, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, LEGISLATION, AND MORE. SUPPORTING THE STUDENT SUCCESS FUNDS WILL ENABLE OUR ORGANIZATION TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A MORE FOCUSED CURRICULUM AND TRAINING PROTOCOL TO ENSURE THAT STUDENTS FROM MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES KNOW THEY BELONG AND ARE SAFE AT SCHOOL. 3.) PORTLAND UNITED AGAINST HATE, FISCALLY SPONSORED PROGRAMMING: CCOR ALSO MADE STRIDES IN SUPPORTING COMMUNITY-LED INITIATIVES IN BUILDING CAPACITY BY DEVELOPING ITS FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM; THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL PILOT LAUNCHED THIS YEAR (PORTLAND UNITED AGAINST HATE). DURING FY 21/22, ONE OF OUR MOST SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS WAS THE INCORPORATION OF PORTLAND UNITED AGAINST HATEA COMMUNITY-BASED INITIATIVE THAT DOCUMENTS AND TRACKS HATE VIOLENCE INCIDENCES AND BIASED ACTS AND WORK WITH COMMUNITIES IMPACTED TO DESIGN SOLUTIONSAS A FISCALLY SPONSORED AGENCY PROJECT. THE MISSION OF PUAH IS AS FOLLOWS: EVERYONE AND EVERY COMMUNITY DESERVE A SAFE, PROSPEROUS, AND PEACEFUL LIFE, A LIFE FREE FROM HATE AND HARASSMENT. WE RECOGNIZE AND HONOR OUR COLLECTIVE RESILIENCE AND OUR RIGHT TO NURTURE OUR COMMUNITIES FROM A PLACE OF COMPASSION, SECURITY, AND BELONGING. PORTLAND UNITED AGAINST HATE IS HERE TO TRACK, RESPOND TO, PREVENT, AND HEAL FROM ACTS OF HATE WHILE PROVIDING THE SUPPORT THAT OUR COMMUNITIES NEED. WE ARE EXCITED TO EXPAND OUR SYSTEMS CHANGE ADVOCACY TO SEEK UPSTREAM SOLUTIONS. AS A RACIAL AND EDUCATION JUSTICE-FOCUSED ORGANIZATION, CCOR'S MISSION DIRECTLY ALIGNS WITH THAT OF PORTLAND UNITED AGAINST HATE. BEFORE TAKING PUAH ON AS A PROGRAM, CCOR COORDINATED PUAH'S EDUCATION COMMITTEE, WORKING IN COLLABORATION WITH THE IMMIGRANT AND REFUGEE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION, EAST COUNTY RISING, PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY, AND APANO TO COORDINATE AN EVENT THAT PROVIDED STUDENTS WITH THE TOOLS AND RESOURCES NEEDED TO ADDRESS RACISM AND OTHER FORMS OF HATE VIOLENCE ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES. WE ALSO WORKED WITH WESTERN STATE CENTER TO PRESENT A WORKSHOP ADDRESSING WHITE NATIONALISM AND BYSTANDER TRAINING TO ADDRESS ANTI-ASIAN AND ANTI-BLACK RACISM. 3, A.) END HATE IN EDUCATION SUMMIT: IN COLLABORATION WITH THE PUAH COALITION, CCOR HOSTED ITS FIRST END HATE IN EDUCATION SUMMIT. FIGHTING HATE VIOLENCE, BIASED ACTS, AND XENOPHOBIA IS A VITAL PART OF OUR MISSION AND WORK, AND THE SUMMIT WAS A RESPONSE TO A DELUGE OF REPORTS OF HATEFUL ACTS IN OUR IMMEDIATE COMMUNITIES AND NATIONALLY. THE SUMMIT CONTENT INCLUDED PERFORMANCES AND POETRY FROM STUDENT ARTISTS AND MUSICIANS, TRAINING ON FIGHTING WHITE NATIONALISM FACILITATED BY THE WESTERN STATE CENTER, A PRESENTATION FROM THE COALITION OF COMMUNITIES OF COLOR ABOUT THE REPORT HATE TOOL, AND BYSTANDER TRAINING FACILITATED BY REPRESENTATIVES FROM PACIFIC ISLANDER AND ASIAN FAMILY THAT PROVIDED STUDENTS WITH TOOLS TO FIGHT ANTI-ASIAN AND ANTI-BLACK HATE VIOLENCE. 4.) HIGHER ED IN PRISON PARTNERSHIP: THE SAME YEAR, WE BEGAN A NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH HIGHER EDUCATION IN PRISON, A PROGRAM AT PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY. THROUGH THIS PARTNERSHIP, OUR AGENCY HAS BRANCHED OUT TO SERVE FORMERLY INCARCERATED CIS AND TRANS WOMEN AND NON-BINARY PEOPLE TRANSITIONING OUT OF COFFEE CREEK CORRECTIONAL FACILITY. THIS YEAR, THE PROGRAM HOSTED ITS FIRST THREE AMERICORPS MEMBERS RUNNING THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL PROJECT REBOUND PROGRAM IN OREGON. ALL INDIVIDUALS SERVING WITH OUR OFFICE ARE FORMERLY INCARCERATED WOMEN AND ARE NOW COLLEGE STUDENTS AT PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY WORKING TOWARD DEGREE PATHWAYS. THIS PROGRAMMING ALSO INCLUDES THE DEVELOPMENT OF TAILORED CURRICULA AND SERVICES SUCH AS HOUSING, FOOD, AND PEER-TO-PEER SUPPORT. DURING THE NEW GRANT PERIOD, CCOR WORKED WITH PARTNERS AND GRANTER TO INCREASE AMERICORPS COMPENSATION FROM 17,500 PER/TERM TO 25,500 PER/TERM, AN EQUIVALENT OF 15.00 PER/HOUR. PROGRAM MEMBERS ARE COMPENSATED FOR TIME SPENT PARTICIPATING IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND WORKING WITH OTHER FORMERLY INCARCERATED STUDENTS. 5.) CONNECT2COMPLETE/EQUITABLE PATHWAYS: CCOR'S CONNECT2COMPLETE/EQUITABLE PATHWAYS PROGRAM WORKED TO INCREASE COMPENSATION FOR HARDWORKING AMERICORPS MEMBERS, ENSURING THEY COULD COMPLETE THEIR TERMS OF SERVICE. AS MENTIONED ABOVE, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY, AMERICORPS MADE THE EQUIVALENT OF 15.00 PER HOUR AS COMMUNITY-SERVICE VOLUNTEERS. CCOR WORKED CLOSE. FOR EXAMPLE, DURING FY 21/22, CCOR INCREASED AMERICORPS COMPENSATION BY 9,000 PER/MEMBER AND RETOOLED THE PROGRAM MODEL TO ENSURE THAT ALL PROJECTS AND ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONS SUPPORTED BY OUR OFFICE ARE DESIGNED WITH RACIAL JUSTICE AT THE CENTER. THIS PROJECT WAS ALSO BUILT ON NEW RESEARCH AND DATA SETS THAT ACCOUNTED FOR THE IMPACTS OF COVID-19 ON STUDENTS' EXPERIENCES OF THEIR EDUCATION. 5, A ) PORTLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS GEAR UP: GEAR UP PPS IS ONE OF OUR LARGEST C2C COHORTS, RECRUITING 4 AMERICORPS MEMBERS. DURING APRIL 2022-JUNE 2022, OUR C2C MEMBERS FROM GEAR UP SERVED 2,837 YOUTH. ENGAGEMENT IN INTERVENTIONS INCLUDED MENTORING, WORKSHOPS, COLLEGE VISITS, AND MORE. WITHIN OUR OVERALL MEMBER'S COMMUNITY COLLEGE ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS, APPROXIMATELY 79 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED THROUGH COACHING, ADVISING, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND CONNECTION TO THE SCHOOL AND LOCAL COMMUNITY THROUGH SERVICE-LEARNING ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS. FINALLY, 13 STUDENTS COMPLETED 36 CREDIT HOURS IN THEIR FIRST YEAR OF COLLEGE, GETTING THEM ONE STEP CLOSER TO ACHIEVING THEIR COURSE OF STUDY AND MOVING ON TO A MEANINGFUL CAREER PATHWAY. 5,B.) COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND COMMUNITY COLLEGES: AS PART OF THE GUIDED PATHWAYS MODEL, THE C2C PROGRAM BUILT POST-SECONDARY ACCESS PARTNERSHIPS WITH LANE, BLUE MT, MT. HOOD, TRIO, AND ALDER COMMONS TO SUPPORT STUDENTS IN PREPARING FOR LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. 6) AMERICORPS VISTA: THE VISTA PROGRAM HAD EXCITING NEW PROJECTS AT CLATSOP COMMUNITY COLLEGE, THE PORTLAND REFUGEE PROJECT, THE SHADOW PROJECT, KAIROS PDX, PACIFIC UNIVERSITY, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND, AMONG OTHERS.
