THE TRUST CURRENTLY OWNED SEVEN BUILDINGS IN DOWNTOWN MARIANNA, ALL OF WHICH ARE NATIONAL REGISTER PROPERTIES. FIVE OF THE BUILDINGS HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY RESTORED AND WERE OCCUPIED BY RETAIL BUSINESSES; TWO OF THE BUILDINGS WERE SOLD IN 2019. THE RENOVATIONS HAVE NOT ONLY RESTORED HISTORIC PROPERTIES, BUT HAVE ALSO POSITIVELY AFFECTED THE ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION OF OUR DOWNTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT BY CREATING JOBS AND TRAFFIC IN DOWNTOWN MARIANNA. EXPENDITURES DURING THE YEAR WERE THOSE NECESSARY TO INSURE AND MAINTAIN THESE BUILDINGS, INCLUDING DEPRECIATION. PREVIOUSLY, THE TRUST ALSO ISSUED A CHALLENGE TO THE COMMUNITY FOR DONATIONS TO SET UP AN ENDOWMENT FUND FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE COMMUNITY HOUSE, WHICH IS A NATIONAL REGISTER PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY OF MARIANNA. THE CITY LACKS THE FUNDS TO PROPERLY MAINTAIN THIS HISTORIC PROPERTY, WHICH IS USED BY THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY AS A MEETING/PARTY FACILITY. THE FUND HAS REACHED AN ENDOWMENT LEVEL OF 12,000, WITH 7,000 COMING FROM THE PUBLIC AND 5,000 COMING FROM A MATCHING CONTRIBUTION FROM THE MARIANNA HISTORIC TRUST.

THE TRUST ALSO MAINTAINS THE HISTORICAL CITY PARK OF MARIANNA AND PROMOTES THE BEAUTIFICATION OF THE HISTORIAL DOWNTON PORTION OF MARIANNA.
