FRIENDS OF THE EEL RIVER'S MISSION IS TO PROTECT AND RESTORE THE EEL RIVER WATERSHED AND ITS FISHERIES. FRIENDS OF THE EEL RIVER'S KEYSTONE PRIORITY OVER THE NEXT DECADE IS TO RESTORE FISH PASSAGE TO THE EEL RIVER HEADWATERS.

DAM REMOVAL: FOER CONTINUED WORKING TO ENSURE TIMELY REMOVAL OF THE TWO POTTER VALLEY PROJECT DAMS IN THE EEL RIVER HEADWATERS AND RESTORE SALMONID ACCESS TO PRIME SPAWNING AND REARING HABITAT.


IMPROVING LAND USE PRACTICES: FOER MONITORED HUMBOLDT COUNTY'S IMPLEMENTATION OF OUR 2019 LEGAL SETTLEMENT TO MITIGATE IMPACTS FROM COMMERCIAL CANNABIS ACTIVITIES IN THE MOST SENSITIVE SALMONID STREAMS.


ADVANCING PROTECTIVE DESIGNATIONS: FOER'S PETITION TO LIST NORTHERN CALIFORNIA SUMMER STEELHEAD AS ENDANGERED UNDER THE CALIFORNIA ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT WAS ACCEPTED. WE CONTINUED SUPPORTING ON-GOING GENETIC RESEARCH TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE FOR A NEW FEDERAL LISTING PETITION. OUR STAFF ALSO COORDINATED WITH ALLIES TO SUPPORT VARIOUS LEGISLATION ADVANCING WILDERNESS DESIGNATIONS AND TO INFORM DECISIONS ABOUT 30X30 INITIATIVES. FINALLY, WE ALSO BUILT A NEW COALTION, NO COAL IN HUMBOLDT, TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND PROTECT THE REGION FROM A NEWLY EMERGED THREAT OF COAL TRAINS.


PROTECTING GROUNDWATER RESOURCES: WE EVALUATED HUMBOLDT COUNTY'S GROUNDWATER SUSTAINABILITY PLANNING AND EXPLORED OPTIONS FOR PROTECTING THE PUBLIC TRUST.
