CRISIS INTERVENTION AND VICTIM ADVOCATE SERVICES: CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES ARE OFFERED TO VICTIMS OF CRIME DAILY FROM 8:30 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M. AT THE CHRISTIANSTED OFFICE. SERVICES INCLUDE COUNSELING, EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE, EMERGENCY CLOTHING ASSISTANCE, EMERGENCY SHELTER, RENTAL ASSISTANCE, COURT ADVOCACY, CHILD ADVOCACY, REFERRALS TO OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND ACCESS TO REFERENCE MATERIAL AND BROCHURES. VOLUNTEER VICTIM ADVOCATES PROVIDE PERSON-TO-PERSON RESPONSE TO VICTIMS OF CRIME WHEN THE OFFICE IS CLOSED. THESE ADVOCATES RESPOND TO VICTIMS AT THE HOSPITAL ER, POLICE STATIONS AND THROUGH A HOTLINE. ALL ADVOCATES PARTICIPATE IN AN INTENSIVE 40 HOUR TRAINING PROGRAM. IN ADDITION TO CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES, THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTS WEEKLY SUPPORT GROUPS FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ADULT SURVIVORS OF INCEST, PARENTING SKILLS (ENGLISH AND SPANISH) AND TEEN VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT. STAFF ALSO CONDUCT WORKSHOPS, TRAINING, AND SEMINARS FOR SCHOOL PERSONNEL, HOSPITAL STAFF, CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES, CHURCHES, AND OTHER COMMUNITY GROUPS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT AND OTHER VICTIMIZATION ISSUES.


EMERGENCY SHELTER AND TRANSITION HOUSING SERVICES: SOJOURNER HOUSE SHELTER PROVIDES EMERGENCY SHELTER AND A SAFE HAVEN FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND STALKING AND TO THEIR CHILDREN. IT PROVIDES A CONTINUUM OF SUPPORTIVE SERVICES, INCLUDING PARENTING CLASSES, COUNSELING, COURT ADVOCACY, AND REFERRALS AND ACCOMPANIMENT TO RELEVANT COMMUNITY SERVICES. THE TRANSITION HOUSING PROGRAM PROVIDES TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, CASE MANAGEMENT, AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT AND STALKING. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES HOUSING AND UTLITIES FOR ELIGIBLE CLIENTS FOR UP TO 24 MONTHS AT SCATTERED SITES, WITH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF MOVING THE CLIENT INTO PERMANENT HOUSING.


CHILDREN'S CENTER PROGRAMS: THE CHILDREN'S CENTER IS HOME TO A WIDE RANGE OF ON-LINE TRAINING PROGRAMS. CHILDREN CENTER STAFF HAVE DEVELOPED AND ARE CONDUCTING ON-LINE TRAINING FOR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS, INCLUDING DATING VIOLENCE, SELF-ESTEEM, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, AND VICTIM ADVOCACY. IT IS ALSO HOME TO AFTER-SCHOOL AND SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS FOR LOW-INCOME AND NEIGHBORHOOD CHILDREN. THE CHILDREN'S CENTER ALSO OPERATES THE JUNIOR ANGEL PROGRAM, WHICH CONNECTS HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS.
