WE ACHIEVE OUR MISSION BY EMPOWERING OUR TRIBAL COMMUNITIES TO PRACTICE AND MAINTAIN A SUSTAINABLE AND HEALTHY WAY OF LIFE WHILE LEARNING FROM AND TEACHING ABOUT OUR LOCAL ECOSYSTEMS AS WELL AS FOSTERING RESPECT AND CARE FOR OUR WATERSHEDS.

FOR THE YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2022, THE ORGANIZATION OPERATED THE FOLLLOWING PROGRAMS:CARE FOR THE EARTH:WE WILL INITIATE WATERSHED PLANNING THAT WILL FOCUS ON RESTORING HEALTHY WATER SYSTEMS THROUGH RESTORATION, WATER HARVESTING, AND CONSERVATION PRACTICES. WE WILL IMPLEMENT WATER HARVESTING PROJECTS THAT WILL FOCUS ON PLANTING THE RAIN. ONE MAJOR COMPONENT WILL BE TO INSTALL RAIN GUTTERS AND TANKS AT HOMES THAT WILL CAPTURE AND STORE RAIN WATER FROM THE ROOFS. THE WATER MAY BE USED TO SUPPORT VEGETATION, SUPPLEMENT LIVESTOCK WATERING, AND POTENTIALLY EVEN BE USED AS A POTABLE WATER SOURCE. WE WILL DEMONSTRATE WAYS TO CAPTURE RAINWATER RUNOFF TO PROMOTE INFILTRATION TO THE LAND, BEGIN WATER REUSE STRATEGIES, AND RECOMMIT OUR STEWARDSHIP TO HONOR THE WATER.CARE FOR THE PEOPLE:PERMASIS FARM (PERMANENT OASIS)WE ARE BUILDING THE PERMASIS (PERMANENT OASIS) FARM WHICH WILL FOCUS ON FOOD SECURITY. WE WILL TEACH ABOUT BUILDING AND SUSTAINING HEALTHY SOIL, GROWING NUTRIENT RICH SUSTAINABLE AND NATIVE CROPS, AND CAPTURING THE WATER, WHILE ADAPTING WITH THE CHANGING CLIMATE.WE WILL IMPLEMENT A SEED SAVING PROGRAM ALL WHILE OFFERING FRESH PRODUCE TO THE COMMUNITY.ANOTHER ELEMENT WILL BE TO DISCOVER SUSTAINABLE GREEN BUILDING SYSTEMS. SPECIFICALLY RAMMED EARTH BUILDING. WE WILL TEACH AND HELP BUILD RAMMED EARTH HOMES. THIS WILL OFFER A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE TO THE POPULAR MOBILE HOME AND PROVIDE MORE RESILIENT STRUCTURES AS WE FACE CLIMATE CHANGE.BEING A CATALYST FOR SOLVING BUREAUCRATIC CHALLENGESALTHOUGH THE NAVAJO NATION IS CONSIDERED A SOVEREIGN NATION, THE LAND IS HELD IN TRUST FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. THUS LAND USE AND OCCUPANCY IS DEPENDENT ON VERY BUREAUCRATIC PROCESSES THAT INCLUDE LAYERS OF PAPER REQUIREMENTS THAT BECOME OVERWHELMING FOR A LARGE MAJORITY OF THE COMMON CITIZENS. THEREFORE, ANOTHER WAY WE WILL CARE FOR THE PEOPLE IS BY ASSISTING CITIZENS WITH WRITING LETTERS, FILLING OUT FORMS AND APPLICATIONS, AND PREPARING DOCUMENTS FOR VARIOUS GOVERNMENT ENTITIES AS THEY PERTAIN TO LAND USE PERMITS, GRAZING PERMITS, HOMESITE LEASES, AND OTHER MATTERS.WE WILL ALSO ASSIST WITH DEVELOPING CONSERVATION PLANS AND SEARCHING FOR OTHER CONSERVATION RESOURCES THAT WILL PROMOTE INCREASED STEWARDSHIP OF THE LAND THAT INCLUDE HOLISTIC STRATEGIES THAT EVOKE CLIMATE CHANGE.?WE WILL SUPPORT LOCAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES BY OFFERING JOBS TO LOCAL RESIDENTS.SHARE THE BOUNTYMULTIPLE LEARNING SETTINGSWE HOST TRAINING WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS, AND PROJECTS THAT ARE DESIGNED TO RALLY THE COMMUNITIES TO SHARE AND TEACH TECHNIQUES TO HELP MITIGATE THE IMPACTS OF OUR CHANGING PLANET.
