DAYSTAR PROVIDES A SAFETY NET OF BASIC EMERGENCY SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, SENIORS, VETERANS, AND THE HOMELESS IN PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA.

BASIC NEEDS: DAYSTAR PROVIDES NUTRITIOUS FOOD, INCLUDING ORGANIC PRODUCE, USDA FOOD, AND PET FOOD TO INDIVIDUALS LIVING BELOW OR NEAR THE FEDERAL POVERTY LEVEL. WE ALSO OFFER CLOTHING, PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, HELP OBTAINING FLORIDA IDENTIFICATION, AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH TRANSPORTATION NEEDS, AND MEDICAL CO-PAYS. DAYSTAR REFERS CLIENTS TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL AND OTHER SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES AND TO JOB FAIRS FOR ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE.
HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION AND SERVICES: DAYSTAR PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH PAST-DUE RENT TO PREVENT EVICTION AND HOMELESSNESS. WE ALSO ASSIST WITH PAST-DUE UTILITIES TO PREVENT UNSAFE LIVING CONDITIONS AND POSSIBLE EVICTION. DAYSTAR IS A SECURE MAIL SITE FOR OUR CLIENTS WHO ARE HOMELESS, UNSTABLY HOUSED, OR FEAR MAIL THEFT. WE HELP STRANDED HOMELESS CLIENTS THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH TRAVELER'S AID INTERNATIONAL. CLIENTS HAVE ACCESS TO COMPUTERS, THE INTERNET, PHONES, AND CELL PHONE CHARGING IN OUR RESOURCE ROOM.
ONSITE COMMUNITY PARTNER SERVICES: THE PINELLAS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, A BAYCARE FAITH COMMUNITY NURSE, AND OTHER COMMUNITY AGENCIES ARE REGULARLY ONSITE AT DAYSTAR TO OFFER HEALTH SCREENINGS, PREVENTION SERVICES, BASIC MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE, AND VACCINES. HEALTHCARE NAVIGATORS HELP CLIENTS FIND HEALTH COVERAGE THROUGH MEDICAID, MEDICARE, AND THE MARKETPLACE. THE FLORIDA LICENSING ON WHEELS VAN VISITS MONTHLY TO ISSUE FLORIDA IDENTIFICATION. THE VETERANS ADMINISTRATION IS ONSITE WEEKLY TO PROVIDE HOUSING REFERRALS AND OTHER SERVICES. DAYSTAR IS A YEAR-ROUND VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE SITE THAT PROVIDES FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION.
