PARENT TO PARENT OF MIAMI'S MISSION IS TO EMPOWER AND SUPPORT A NETWORK OF PARENTS WHO HAVE CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES.

OUR PARENT RESOURCE CENTER PROVIDED INDIVIDUALIZED ASSISTANCE TO APPROXIMATELY 1,500 FAMILIES IN MIAMI DADE COUNTY INCLUDING PEER SUPPORT, ADVOCACY SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL ISSUES, COMMUNITY AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES PLUS MUCH NEEDED EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DURING THE ONGOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC. WORKSHOPS TO HELP PARENTS UNDERSTAND SPECIAL EDUCATION LAW, FINANCIAL, TRANSITION AND DISABILITY SPECIFIC TOPICS WERE WELL ATTENDED WITH 914 PARENT PARTICIPANTS. AN ADDITIONAL 227 PARENTS WERE PROVIDED ADVOCACY SUPPORT AT THEIR CHILD'S SCHOOL MEETING AND 185 RECEIVED ONE-TO-ONE COACHING ASSISTANCE TO ADDRESS INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.
