"GETTING TO KNOW YOU: JAPANESE PERSPECTIVES ON LIFE IN TENNESSEE" WAS A REGIONAL ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION FEATURING LONGSTANDING JAPANESE COMMUNITY LEADERS SHARING THEIR EXPERIENCES IN OUR STATE. FOR "GETTING TO KNOW YOU: TENNESSEE-JAPAN SISTER CITIES," LEADERS OF TENNESSEE SISTER CITIES ORGANIZATIONS DISCUSSED THEIR HISTORIES, SUCCESSFUL INITIATIVES AND FUTURE PLANS. JAST WELCOMED CONSUL-GENERAL OF JAPAN IN NASHVILLE KAYOKO FUKUSHIMA AND BILL LEE, GOVERNOR OF TENNESSEE, WITH BILL HAGERTY, U.S. SENATOR FOR TENNESSEE, AND A PANEL OF JAST ALLIES AND PARTNERS FOR "PERSPECTIVES ON RESILIENCE AND REVIVAL: THE FUTURE OF JAPAN - U.S. RELATIONS & EXPANDING TENNESSEE'S REACH" IN THE FIRST JAST VIRTUAL-FORMAT TENNESSEE-JAPAN FORUM / ANNUAL MEETING.


MEMPHIS JAPAN FESTIVAL:THE MEMPHIS JAPAN FESTIVAL WAS HELD ON NOVEMBER 7 AT MEMPHIS BOTANIC GARDEN. THE FESTIVAL WAS A FAMILY-FRIENDLY AND INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCE OF JAPANESE CULTURE. FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDED TRADITIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE MUSIC AND DANCE, MARTIAL ARTS DEMONSTRATIONS, CULTURAL LECTURES, ARTS & CRAFTS, MERCHANDISE, CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES, SUMO-SUIT WRESTLING, A ROVING JAPANESE CANDYMAN, TOURS OF THE JAPANESE GARDEN, AND A VARIETY OF JAPANESE CUISINE FEATURING SPECIAL MENUS FROM LOCAL RESTAURANTS AND FOOD TRUCKS.


WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FORUM & NETWORKING LUNCHEON:THE WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FORUM & NETWORKING LUNCHEON WAS HELD ON DECEMBER 3 AT THE TENNESSEE STATE MUSEUM. THIS EVENT INCLUDED LUNCH, A TOUR OF THE MUSEUM, NETWORKING WITH JAPAN-TENNESSEE FOCUSED PROFESSIONALS, AND REMARKS FROM THREE ACCOMPLISHED WOMEN SHARING THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH U.S.-JAPAN RELATIONS AND THE REALIZATION OF THEIR PROFESSIONAL DREAMS.
