GISA IS A GLOBAL NON PROFIT ORGANIZAITON DEDICATED TO BUILDING THE FUTURE OF MEDIA WITH INDEPENDENT JOURNALISTS, ARTISTS AND ENTREPRENEURS WORKING IN CLOSED SOCIETIES THROUGH PRODUCTION, OPEN SOURCE INNOVATION, RESEARCH, LEARNING AND COMMUNICATION BUILDING.

ACCESS TO JUSTICE: OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS, SUDANESE ARCHIVE HAS BUILT SUDANS LARGEST HUMAN RIGHTS DATABASE FOR SUDAN WITH OVER 700,000 OPEN-SOURCE VIDEOS, AS WELL AS THE LARGEST PRIMARY VISUAL DOCUMENTATION DATABASE FROM SUDANS CONFLICT ZONES. DATA IS ALSO USED BY MEDIA PARTNERS LIKE THE MIDDLE EAST EYE, BBC, AND AL JAZEERA. THE SUDANESE ARCHIVE ALSO USED THE ARCHIVES TO PRESS FOR JUSTICE IN LEGAL CASES, MEDIA REPORTS, RESEARCH AND TRUTH TELLING. IN 2021, OUR TEAM ALSO COLLECTED AND ARCHIVED OVER ONE HUNDRED SURVIVOR FOCUSED ORAL HISTORY TESTIMONIES IN DARFUR, BLUE NILE AND SOUTH KORDOFAN. ITS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN SUDAN. IN 2021, GISA GROUP CONTINUED TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THE GROUP OF 20 COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, NETWORKS AND ACTIVISTS WORKING ACROSS SUDAN - WE CONDUCTED MONITORING AND INVESTIGATIONS IN COOPERATION WITH THE 20 ORGANIZATIONS, AS A TOOL TO PREVENT ATROCITIES AND BUILD CAPACITY.
MEDIA DEVELOPMENT: THE AYIN NETWORK PUBLISHED REPORTS FROM ACROSS SUDAN, OVER 150 VIDEOS, 10 INVESTIGATIVE REPORTS AND 10 DOCUMENTARIES, ON THEIR ONLINE NEWS SITE. THE AYIN NETWORK ALSO RAN A TRAINING PROJECT IN WHICH 145 SUDANESE JOURNALISTS PARTICIPATED IN A COMPREHENSIVE, ONLINE TRAINING COURSE DETAILING DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN SUDAN. 17 JOURNALISTS PRODUCED IN-DEPTH REPORTS CONCERNING PRESS FREEDOM ISSUES THAT WERE SYNDICATED ACROSS MULTIPLE MEDIA PLATFORMS WITHIN THE COUNTRY REACHING OVER 30,000 PEOPLE.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND CULTURE: IN 2021, GISA GROUP HELPED SUPPORT THE CIVIC LABS NETWORK TO INCREASE FROM 5 LABS TO 10, THIS INCLUDED PROCURING CRITICAL SUPPLIES FOR ALL 10 LABS; LAUNCHING A ROBUST WORKSHOP AND LEARNING PROGRAM; AND BUILDING THEIR MANAGEMENT CAPACITY IN ORDER TO TAKE ON IMPACT DRIVEN COMMUNITY PROJECTS TO INCREASE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT IN SUDAN.
