2023 TRAVEL EVENTS DOCUMENTARY FILM SYMPOSIUM IN SANTA BARBARA AND CHANNEL ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK THE DOCUMENTARY FILM SYMPOSIUM IS L3S MOST POPULAR EVENT. A GROUP OF MEMBERS REVIEW AND SELECT DOCUMENTARY FILMS TO WATCH TOGETHER AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION EACH YEAR. THE FILMS COVER THOUGHT-PROVOKING TOPICS AND HAVE TIES TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. FILMMAKERS AND GUEST PRESENTERS JOIN US FOR CONVERSATIONS. IN 2013, L3 MEMBERS DECIDED TO MAKE VISITING AT LEAST ONE NATIONAL PARK EACH YEAR A GOAL. PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO EXPERIENCE THE BEAUTY OF THE PARKS, LEARN ABOUT THEIR HISTORY AND ECOLOGY, AND GIVE BACK TO THE NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION AND LOCAL NONPROFITS WORKING ON PARK-RELATED ISSUES. MEMBERS MET WITH PARK OFFICIALS BEFORE TAKING A CRUISE BY THE ISLANDS AND WATCHED THE BELOW-LISTED DOCUMENTARIES. DONATIONS WERE MADE TO THE NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION.

L3S ANNUAL CONFERENCE AT THE GREENBRIER - THE COLD WAR THEN AND NOW THE ANNUAL CONFERENCES GOAL IS FOR MEMBERS TO BUILD AUTHENTIC CONNECTIONS WITH ONE ANOTHER AND TO DISCUSS UNIQUE RESOURCES TO MAKE THE YEARS AHEAD THE BEST. WE EXPLORE TOPICS MEMBERS CARE ABOUT, HOST PROGRAMMING AT NONPROFIT SITES THAT FURTHER OUR COMMITMENT TO GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITIES AND MAKE DONATIONS TO GROUPS INSTEAD OF USING OUR RESOURCES FOR THINGS SUCH AS CENTERPIECES OR WELCOME GIFTS. MEMBERS MET WITH EXPERTS ON RUSSIAN AND U.S. POLICY TO GAIN INSIGHTS ON A POTENTIAL NEW COLD WAR.
CULTURAL EXCHANGE TO ARGENTINAS PATAGONIA CULTURAL EXHANGE TO SICILY CULTURAL EXCHANGES TAKE US TO EXOTIC LAND FOR IMMERSION IN LOCAL CULTURE, THROUGH ACTIVITIES AND ENCOUNTERS WITH LOCAL EXPERTS. WE TRY TO VISIT AN NGO ON THESE TRIPS WHENEVER WE CAN. MEMBERS TOURED THE ANCIENT AMPHITHEATER IN TAORMINA, TREKKED TO MT EDNA VOLCANO, MET WITH JOURNALIST AND WRITER, WENDY HENNESSY, SAILED IN THE MEDITERRANEAN ON A GULLET, VISITED SYRACUSE, NOTTO, MODICA, SCICLI, AGRIGENTO AND THE VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES, SCIACCA, AND PALERMO.
