LIVING HOPE WHEELCHAIR ASSOCIATION SERVES PEOPLE WITH SPINAL CORD INJURIES, AS WITH OTHER DISABILITIES, SO THAT THEY MAY LEAD FULL AND PRODUCTIVE LIVES.

QUALITY OF LIFE PROGRAM- ASSISTS ITS MEMBERS WHO ARE MAINLY IN THE GREATER HOUSTON AREA IN AREAS SUCH AS ACCESS TO HEALTH SERVICES, MOBILITY, COMMUNICATION, HOUSING AND FAMILY SUPPORT. HAD 20-30 TRAINED VOLUNTEERS IN QUALITY OF LIFE PROMOTER PROGRAM, MAKING OVER 100 VISITS TO HOSPITALS AND PEOPLES HOMES. DISTRIBUTED MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO 300 PEOPLE MONTHLY AND INSTITUTED A MONTHLY DAY WHERE ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN ACCESS SUPPLIES. DISTRIBUTED DOZENS OF WHEELCHAIRS. HELD 2 WORKSHOPS ON KNOWING AND DEFENDING YOUR RIGHTS AS IMMIGRANTS LIVING WITH A DISABILITY. IN COLLABORATION WITH PARTNERS AT THE TEXAS ORGANIZING PROJECT IN APRIL 2022, WON THE HARRIS COUNTY ENHANCED LIBRARY CARD, A FREE PHOTO ID THAT?S AVAILABLE TO ALL COUNTY RESIDENTS - REGARDLESS OF IMMIGRATION OR HOUSING STATUS, THAT CAN BE USED TO OBTAIN SERVICES AT HARRIS COUNTY. - THANKS TO THE ADVOCACY OFLIVING HOPE, METROLIFT GRANTED FREE TRANSPORTATION TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES DURING THE PANDEMIC. CONTINUED DONATING FREE TRANSPORTATION TICKETS TO LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS.


EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUND- DIRECT CASH ASSISTANCE FOR MEMBERS WHO ARE MAINLY IN THE GREATER HOUSTON AREA FOR HELP WITH DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND RECOVERY, AND EMERGENCY PAYMENT OF RENT, CAR, REPAIRS, AND UTILITY BILLS. EDUCATED THOUSANDS OF RESIDENTS ON DISASTER PREPAREDNESS IN EVENTS AND MEDIA INTERVIEWS IN COORDINATION WITH THE MEXICAN CONSULATE AND A LOCAL RADIO STATION - IN COLLABORATION WITH HISC, WE HAVE BEEN INCREASING LANGUAGE JUSTICE ACCESS IN PUBLIC AGENCIES, SO THAT PEOPLE WHO DON?T SPEAK ENGLISH ARE ABLE TO ACCESS TRANSLATION TO PARTICIPATE IN CITY AND FEDERAL PROCESSES.
