THE PARTNERSHIP FOR SUCCESSFUL SCHOOLS (PFSS), CREATED TO ENCOURAGE BUSINESS SUPPORT FOR EDUCATION REFORM EFFORTS, WORKS ACROSS KENTUCKY TO IDENTIFY GAPS, CONVENE PARTNERS, LINK RESOURCES, IDENTIFY SOLUTIONS AND, ALONGSIDE COMMUNITIES IMPLEMENT THOSE SOLUTIONS IN CLASSROOMS, SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS. FOCUSED PRIMARILY ON COLLEGE, CAREER, LIFE READINESS AND LITERACY ISSUES TODAY, PFSS STRIVES TO WORK WITH AND BRING TOGETHER RELEVANT VOICES IN SUPPORT OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND A HIGHLY SKILLED WORKFORCE.

ONE TO ONE: PRACTICING READING WITH STUDENTS, CREATED WITH THE INPUT OF TEACHERS AND LITERACY EXPERTS, RECRUITS AND TRAINS VOLUNTEERS TO BECOME TRUE LITERACY COACHES, THEREBY HELPING STRUGGLING READERS BUILD KEY SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE ACROSS SUBJECTS. THROUGH WEEKLY ONE ON ONE SESSIONS COACHES FOCUS ON SKILLS WHERE STUDENTS NEED HELP MOST AND ALONG THE WAY DEVELOP VALUABLE MENTORING RELATIONSHIPS. RESULTS INDICATE 85 TO 90% OF STUDENTS MAKE SIGNIFICANT GAINS IN READING.
