THE ALLIANCE IS ORGANIZED UNDER THE KENTUCKY NON-PROFIT CORPORATION ACT (CHAPTER 273 OF THE KENTUCKY REVISED STATUES) FOR CHAIRTABLE AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY, PERMANECY AND WELLBEING OF CHILDREN, WHO ARE DESCRIBED AS AN "AT-RISK" POPULATION. CHILDREN ARE AT RISK WHEN THEIR PERSONAL AND FAMILY CIRCUMSTANCES ARE MORE LIKELY: TO SUFFER FROM NEGLECT, ABUSE, OR DEPENDENCY, TO HAVE UNTREATED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS, TO FAIL IN SCHOOL, OR TO EXPIERNCE DEPRIVATIONS TO A GREATER DEGREE THAN FOUND IN THE GENERAL POPULATION. THE ALLIANCE WILL ADVOCATE FOR AND PROMOTE PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS, PRACTICES AND POLICIES AND WILL BUILD STRONG PARTNERSHIPS, COLLABORATIONS, AND NETWORKS AMONG SERVICE PROVIDERS AND STATE AGENCIES TO IMPROVE THE WELL-BEING OF KENTUCKY'S AT-RISK CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. THE ALLIANCE WILL BE DEDICATED TO TRAINING, MUTUAL SUPPORT, PUBLIC EDUCATION, RESERACH, AND ADVOCACY ON BEHALF OF AT-RISK CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES IN KENTUCKY.
