AVDA OFFERS LIFE-SAVING SERVICES WHILE PROMOTING VIOLENCE-FREE, EQUITABLE RELATIONSHIPS TO PREVENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE ORGANIZATION, ONE OF 41 CERTIFIED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CENTERS IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA, BEGAN SERVING CLIENTS IN 1986 WITH AN EMERGENCY SHELTER. AN OUTREACH PROGRAM WAS ADDED FOR THE COMMUNITY IN 2000 AND A TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM IN 2005. THE 24-HOUR EMERGENCY SHELTER AND HOTLINE EMPHASIZES EMPOWERMENT AND SUPPORTS THE RIGHT TO SELF DETERMINATION. THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM FOCUSES ON ECONOMIC SELF SUFFICIENCY AND PERMANENT HOUSING. A NEW SHELTER BUILDING WAS COMPLETED IN 2015. PETS ARE WELCOME. RESIDENTIAL CAPACITY IS 94 AT ANY ONE TIME. OUTREACH PROGRAMS CONTINUED TO INCREASE THIS YEAR PROVIDING INTERVENTION, PREVENTION, AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY. AVDA PROVIDED SERVICES TO 18,313 INDIVIDUALS IN PALM BEACH COUNTY AND ITS SURROUNDING AREA DURING THE FISCAL YEAR.
