PROGRAM SERVICES PROVIDED TO THE COMMUNITY INCLUDE ADULT DAY TRAINING, TRANSPORTATION SERVICES, AND RESIDENTIAL REHABILITIATION SERVICES THROUGH FUNDING FROM PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ENTITIES.

THE RESIDENTIAL REHABILITATION SERVICES PROGRAM SERVES A DIVERSE GROUP OF PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES WITH VARYING LEVELS OF SKILLS AND ABILITIES. THE GROUP HOME IS CONSIDERED BY MANY PERSONS SERVED TO THEIR PERMANENT HOME BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO FAMILY MEMBERS. MANY OF THE INDIVIDUALS LACK THE KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THEIR PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE STYLE. LUCANUS DEVELOPMENT CENTER, INC. SERVES 18 CLIENTS RESIDING IN FIVE GROUP HOMES 365 DAYS PER YEAR IN THE RESIDENTAL REHABILITATION PROGRAM.
THE ADULT DAY TRAINING SUPPORTS THE PERSON SERVED INCREASE THEIR LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE OR AUTONOMY. THIS IS FULLY REALIZED THROUGH THE COOPERATIVE EFFORTS OF ALL SIGNIFICANT INFLUENCES ON THE INDIVIDUAL. A PERSON SERVED IS PRESENTED WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE WITHIN CLASSROMS TO RECEIVE NECESSARY TRAINING, WHICH SHOULD FOSTER INTEREST, IMPROVED ATTENTION, AND STIMULATION AND GIVE THE PERSON SERVED A VARIETY OF PROGRAM STRATEGIES. LUCANUS DEVELOPMENT CENTER, INC. SERVES APPROXIMATELY 72 CLIENTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN THIS PROGRAM ANNUALLY, WHICH OPERATES 240 DAYS PER YEAR.
LUCANUS DEVELOPMENT CENTER, INC. PROVIDES ROUND TRIP TRANPORTATION SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 40 CLIENTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES PER DAY. THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO THE NEEDS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, INCLUDING THOSE WITH WHEELCHAIRS, WALKERS, SPECIAL THERAPEUTIC DEVICES, ETC.
