FARM CITY WEEK IS A PROGRAM WHICH THE AMERICAN FARMER AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND LOCAL AGENCIES ARE MADE AWARE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE. WE USE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO INCREASE UNDERSTANDING, COOPERATION, AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN RURAL AND URBAN RESIDENTS. AGRICULTURE IS CONSTANTLY MISUNDERSTOOD AND IMPROVEMENTS CAN BE MADE BY UNDERSTANDING ISSUES.


OKALOOSA COUNTY FARM BUREAU HELD AGVENTURE FIELD TRIPS EACH FALL TO TEACH AG AWARENESS TO SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN. IN 2021, 311 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THIS EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE. AG LITERACY PROGRAMS ARE IMPORTANT TO OUR EFFORT OF AG EDUCATION. IN 2021, 23 CLASSROOMS WERE READ TO AND TAUGHT ABOUT AGRICULTURE, WHAT IT MEANS AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO EVERY ONE OF US.


EACH YEAR, OKALOOSA COUNTY FARM BUREAU OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING SENIORS IN THE COUNTY. STUDENTS MUST BE A CHILD OR GRANDCHILD OF A MEMBER AND ATTEND A COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY OR TRADE SCHOOL MAJORING IN AN AGRICULTURE-RELATED FIELD.
