OPERATION OF MUSEUM IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

EXHIBITS - THE MUSEUM HAS BEEN DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR NORTHEAST FLORIDA FOR 80 YEARS BY COLLECTING, PRESERVING AND ACTIVELY INTERPRETING THE REGION'S CULTURAL AND NATURAL HISTORY. IN FY 2021-2022, MOSH RECORDED 105,761 PAID ADMISSIONS, WITH A TOTAL OF 163,470 SERVED BY PROGRAMS AND EVENTS.


EDUCATION AND PROGRAMS - THE MUSEUM ALSO SERVED THE COMMUNITY BY HOSTING VARIOUS PROGRAMS INCLUDING WINTER, SPRING AND SUMMER CAMPS, NUMEROUS BOY AND GIRL SCOUT EVENTS, EARLY LEARNER PROGRAMS, OUTREACH PROGRAMS, MOSH AFTER DARK, AND COMPETITIONS AS PART OF ITS MISSION TO BE A CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL RESOURCE FOR THE COMMUNITY. IN TOTAL THE MUSEUM SERVED OVER 163,470 PEOPLE IN 2021-22. THESE INCLUDED 39,594 SCHOOL CHILDREN SERVED THROUGH FIELD TRIPS AND PROGRAMS, 20,598 PARTICIPANTS IN PUBLIC COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, AND 10,457 PARTICIPANTS IN EDUCATIONAL OUTREACHES AND OFF-SITE ENGAGEMENTS IN 16 COUNTIES ACROSS NORTH FLORIDA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA. 28,599 STUDENTS SERVED BY MOSH IN 2021-2022 CAME FROM TITLE 1 SCHOOLS.


PLANETARIUM - IN OCTOBER 2010, THE MUSEUM CONSTRUCTED A DIGITAL PLANETARIUM TO SUPPLEMENT PROGRAMMING TO FURTHER ITS MISSION OF INSPIRING THE JOY OF LEARNING BY BRINGING TO LIFE THE SCIENCES AND REGIONAL HISTORY OF NORTH FLORIDA. IN 2021-22 THE MUSEUM PRESENTED LIVE AND PRODUCED SHOWS TO THE PUBLIC AND SCHOOL GROUPS.
