OUR COUNTY PROMOTES THE BETTERMENT OF AGRICULTURE BY PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO PURSUE A CAREER IN THIS FIELD. BY DOING SO WE CAN ENRICH THE LIVES OF STUDENTS AND PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADVANCEMENT IN THIS FIELD.


WE SPONSORED THE ANNUAL GAIN-IN-WEIGHT CONTEST AT THE GADSDEN COUNTY LIVE SHOW AND SALE. THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT IS TO PROMOTE EDUCATION AND REAL WORLD PRACTICAL USE OF SCIENTIFIC FEEDING SYSTEMS TO IMPROVE LIVESTOCK PERFORMANCE. THIS HELPS THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY IN THIS COUNTY.


FARM CITY WEEK IS A TIME TO RECOGNIZE THE INTERDEPENDENCE OF RURAL AND URBAN COMMUNITIES. THIS WEEK IS A TIME TO CELEBRATE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO COMMUNITIES AND HOW EACH CANNOT EXIST WITHOUT THE OTHER. THIS YEAR THE EVENT INCLUDED A TOUR OF THE SHADE TOBACCO MUSEUM. MANY OF THE ATTENDEES WERE ABLE TO SHARE THEIR FAMILY STORIES AND DISCUSS A COMMODITY THAT WAS ONCE PREVALENT IN OUR COUNTY.
