THE COALITION'S MISSION IS TO LEAD SYSTEMS CHANGE TO ADVANCE EQUITY AND ADDRESS COMPLEX SOCIAL ISSUES.

THE COALITION HELPLINE FACILITATES THE CONNECTION OF GWINNETT COUNTY RESIDENTS TO PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY. THE GWINNETT COALITION MAINTAINS A CENTRALIZED DATABASE OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND OPERATES A HELPLINE, AN INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICE, WHERE CALLERS RECEIVE FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL REFERRAL INFORMATION. NONPROFITS AND OTHER AGENCIES PROVIDING ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY RESOURCES ARE FEATURED IN THE DATABASE. TYPES OF SERVICES INCLUDE EMERGENCY SHELTER/HOUSING, RENT AND UTILITIES ASSISTANCE, EMERGENCY FOOD SUPPLY, MENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SUPPORT, SENIOR SERVICES, AND ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE, CHILDCARE, EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, ETC. GWINNETT CARES, A GRASS-ROOTS EFFORT POWERED BY THE GWINNETT COALITION, WAS FORMED IN RESPONSE TO THE 2020 COVID-19 PANDEMIC. LOCAL NONPROFITS AND AGENCIES MOBILIZED AND SYNCHRONIZED THEIR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE FOOD TO COMMUNITY RESIDENTS IN NEED. WHEN GWINNETT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS CEASED IN-PERSON LEARNING, MANY CHILDREN WERE DEPRIVED OF BREAKFAST AND LUNCH MEALS NORMALLY PROVIDED IN THE SCHOOL SETTING. THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ALSO CREATED BARRIERS AND CHALLENGES FOR DIVERSE AND UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS. GWINNETT CARES REACHED OVER 55,000 INDIVIDUALS VIA ITS WEBPAGE FEATURING INFORMATION AND RESOURCES FOR GWINNETT COUNTY RESIDENTS.
