Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

THE PURPOSE FOR MFH, INC IS TO PERPETUATE THE WORK AND MINISTRY OF ORAN AND ARSHALOOS BELL WHO FOUNDED THE MINISTRY TO HAITI IN 1947. IN 1996 MFH WAS INCORPORATED TO CONTINUE THE WORK AND MINISTRY THAT THE BELLS BEGAN AND IS BEING CONTINUED BY THEIR DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND THROUGH THE COUNTRY OF HAITI.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

A LARGE PART OF ANY MINISTRY IN HAITI MUST INCLUDE SOME PORTION OF A COMBINATION OF CHARITY AND MEDICAL ATTENTION BECAUSE THE LARGEST PART OF THE POPULATION IS EXTREMELY POOR AND UNHEALTHY. FOR THAT REASON, WE DEDICATE APPROXIMATELY $50K TO THE CHARITY RELATED EVENTS. WE DEDICATE A PORTION INDICATED ABOVE TO MEDICAL TEAMS THAT CONSIST OF BOTH DOCTORS AND NURSES AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS WHO PAY THEIR OWN WAY AS LONG AS WE PROVIDE THEM WITH FOOD AND BOARDING FOR WEEKS AT A TIME AS THEY DO DENTAL, MEDICAL AND EXAMS TO THOSE SUFFERING FROM MANY DISEASES THAT ARE PREVALENT IN HAITI. WE ALSO PROVIDE CAMPING OPPORTUNITIES TO BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN AS WELL AS MEDICAL AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AT OUR "CAMP BOSSIER BY THE SEA" CAMP WITH COMPLETE FACILITIES FOR WEEKLONG EVENTS. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO REACH THE POOR AND INDIGENT AS WELL AS THE GENERAL POPULATION TO ANYTHING FROM ONE DAY EVENTS UP TO A WEEK OR WEEKEND. THESE EVENTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR RETREATS, SPECIAL EVENTS AND FOR CHURCH CAMPS FOR THE TEENS. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE MINISTRY TO REACH OUT TO ALL SECTORS OF THE SOCIETY BECAUSE THE CAMP IS A BLESSING TO THE POOR WHO GET TO EXPERIENCE INDOOR SHOWERS AND INDOOR TOILETS. IT ALSO SERVES AS A PLACE THAT EVERYONE KNOWS AND IS PERFECT FOR MEDICAL TEAMS TO USE AS A BASE CAMP FOR PEOPLE TO COME TO THEM AND THEY GO OUT TO THE COMMUNITIES ALSO FOR MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND GENERAL PRACTICE EVENTS AS WELL AS TO HAND OUT MANY MEDICAL SUPPLIES THAT MOST PEOPLE CAN NOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE FOR THEIR OWN USE.

IN A COUNTRY LIKE HAITI, EDUCATION IS NOT AVAILABLE TO EVERY PERSON. SCHOOLS ARE FEW AND AVAILABLE TO ONLY THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD TO PAY TUITION. THEREFORE, IT HAS BEEN OUR DESIRE TO SUPPLY A HIGH LEVEL OF EDUCATION TO THE POOREST AND LESS SERVED PORTION OF THE POPULATION THAT LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND LESS HABITUATED AREAS OF THE COUNTRY. OUR HEADQUARTERS IS BASED IN THE TOWN CALLED JACMEL, WHICH IS SURROUNDED BY MANY OUTLYING POOR NEIGHBORHOODS AND THE AREAS HIT HARD BY THE 2010 EARTHQUAKES. MFH OPERATES A LARGE KINDERGARTEN, ELEMENTARY, AND HIGH SCHOOL. DUE TO THE POVERTY MOST OF THE STUDENTS ARE SUBSIDIZED BY MFH BUT THEY ARE GIVEN A TOP-QUALITY EDUCATION AND FED A WARM LUNCH WHICH MIGHT BE THE ONLY MEAL THAT THEY GET THAT DAY. AT THAT LOCATION WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 800 STUDENTS FROM K4 THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL. THERE ARE ANOTHER 200 STUDENTS IN THREE OF OUR CHURCH RUN SCHOOLS IN THE REMOTE AREAS. THERE IS ALSO A SEMINARY ON THE MAIN CAMPUS WHICH OFFERS A FOUR-YEAR CERTIFIED BS DEGREE. THERE ARE CURRENTLY APPROXIMATELY 40 STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THIS VERY QUALITY ORIENTED PROGRAM AND HAS GRADUATED OVER 50 STUDENTS IN THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. WHILE THE START-UP HAS BEEN FAIRLY EXPENSIVE, IT IS OUR HOPE THAT THE COLLEGE WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME SELF-SUPPORTING. IN THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, THE COLLEGE HAS BECOME MORE SELF-SUPPORTING DUE TO HIRING OUR OWN GRADUATES TO TEACH IN THE HIGH SCHOOLS AND COLLEGE AT A MORE COMPETITIVE RATE DUE TO THE DESIRE OF THESE RECIPIENTS TO STAY AND TEACH FOR LOWER FEES BECAUSE THEY WANT TO PAY FOR THEIR EDUCATION BACK TO MFH.

THE RADIO MINISTRY AND CHURCH MINISTRY GO HAND-IN-HAND IN THAT THEY COMPLETE EACH OTHER. THE RADIO MINISTRY CARRIES THE GOSPEL MINISTRY TO THE ENTIRE SOUTHERN PART OF HAITI. NOT ONLY DOES IT TIE ALL OUR CHURCHES TOGETHER WITH COMMUNICATION, BUT IT ALSO IS AN EXCELLENT SERVICE TO THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY AS IT HAS AN EXCELLENT WEATHER PROGRAM THAT WARNS OF COASTAL STORMS, HURRICANES AND ANY INCLEMENT WEATHER THAT MIGHT PREVAIL. IT IS ALSO IN A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY SOMEWHAT OF A COMMUNICATION TOOL AS IT IS OFTEN USED TO TELL RELATIVES IN A DISTANT TOWN THAT SOMEONE IN THEIR FAMILY IS SICK AND NEEDS HELP; OR THAT A LOCAL COW HAS DISAPPEARED, AND THE OWNERS CAN BE CONTACT IF SOMEONE FINDS HIS COW. THIS IS IMPORTANT IN A 3RD WORLD TOWN. SO, OUR RADIO STATION SERVES THE COMMUNITY WITH GOOD INFORMATION, BUT IT ALSO SERVES THE CHURCH DESIRES TO REACH NEW MEMBERS AND TO BROADCAST RELIGIOUS SONGS AND PROGRAMS. THEREFORE, THE RADIO IS A PART OF THE CHURCH OUTREACH, A COMMUNITY GOODWILL TOOL, AND IT WILL HOPEFULLY EVENTUALLY BE MORE THAN A CHURCH MINISTRY BUT COULD EVENTUALLY BECOME A PROFITABLE PART OF THE ECONOMY AS THAT PART OF THE WORLD WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME SWAYED BY MARKETING TOOLS THAT WOULD ENCOURAGE LOCAL BUSINESSES TO LEARN THE WESTERN ART OF PAID ADVERTISING.

THE ORGANZATION HAS DISCONTINUED OPERATIONS AND DISSOLVED THE ORGANIZATION IN 2021. THE MINISTRY OF MISSION TO HAITI HAS BEEN HANDED OVER TO OPEN DOOR BAPTIST MISSIONS LOCATED IN GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA.
