THE MISSION OF THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN HISTORICAL ASSOC. IS TO EXPLORE, PRESERVE, AND SHARE THE REGIONS RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE. WE ACCOMPLISH THAT MISSION THROUGH THEATRICAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND MUSEUM PROGRAMMING. OUR GEOGRAPHICAL AREA COVERED IS WATAUGA AND ADJACENT COUNTIES.

Part 3 - Line 4a

WE HAVE AROUND 8,000 PATRONS ATTEND OUR PRODUCTION HORN IN THE WEST AND HAVE AROUND 3,000 MUSEUM VISITORS ANNUALLY, MANY OF WHOM ARE SCHOOL CHILDREN. HORN IN THE WEST IS THE 3RD OLDEST OUTDOOR DRAMA IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE OLDEST OUTDOOR DRAMA WITH A REVOLUTIONARY WAR THEME. THE 2021 HORN SEASON WAS SUCCESSFUL AFTER AN OFF SEASON IN 2020 DUE TO COVID-19.
