SCHOLARSHIPS AND SKILLS TRAINING EL SALVADOR: IN ILOBASCO, CO-PARTNERS WORKED WITH THE ASOCIACIÓN DE DESARROLLO DE MUJERES LA NUEVA ESPERANZA TO FUND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOUTH AND VOCATIONAL CLASSES FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH. CLASSES INCLUDED DRESSMAKING, COSMETOLOGY, ELECTRICITY, ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND TWO LEVELS OF COMPUTER SKILLS. IN APASTEPEQUE AND COJUTEPEQUE, CO-PARTNERS COLLABORATED WITH TWO ORGANIZATIONS, THE ASOCIACIÓN MUJERES EMPRENDEDORAS SANTIAGO APÓSTOL DE APASTEPEQUE AND THE MUJERES EMPRENDADORES DE COJUTEPEQUE TO OFFER DRESSMAKING CLASSES TO 50 WOMEN. GUATEMALA: WORKING THROUGH ASCODREMCHI THE WOMENS NETWORK OF PARTNER ORGANIZATION ASDECO PROVIDED SCHOOL SUPPLIES SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 260 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS FROM 12 COMMUNITIES AROUND CHICHICASTENANGO.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING: EACH YEAR CO-PARTNERS PROVIDES LEADERSHIP TRAINING TO ITS PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS IN EL SALVADOR AND GUATEMALA VOLUNTEERS CREDENTIALED IN THEIR FIELDS. IN EL SALVADOR LEADERSHIP TRAINING WAS PROVIDED TO THREE GROUPS. FIFTEEN ADULT WOMEN RECEIVED TRAINING IN PLANNING AND BUDGETING, 25 WOMEN IN COJUTEPEQUE RECEIVED TRAINING IN GROUP DINAMICS AND DECISION MAKING. IN GUATEMALA, THE WOMENS NETWORK OF ASDECO,12 WOMEN RECEIVED ORIENTATION ON THE PROCESS FOR ACQUIRING LEGAL STATUS. IN ILOBASCO 25 YOUTH WERE TRAINED IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION STRATEGIES AND 18 CHILDREN WERE PROVIDED SOCIALIZATION ACTIVITIES.
MATERIAL SUPPORT: IN ADDITION TO FUNDING THE ACTIVTIES DESCRIBED UNDER 4A AND 4B, CO-PARTNERS PROVIDED PARTNER ORGANIZATION WITH SMALL OPERATING GRANTS, EQUIPMNET AND MATERIALS. THE OPERATING GRANTS WHICH ARE MANAGED BY THE PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS PARTIALLY COVER THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH LOCAL PROGRAM INSTURCTORS, MAINTENANCE, RECORD KEEPING, UTILITIES, OFFICE SUPPLIES AND BANKING FEES. EQUIPMENT DONATIONS INCLUDED 10 COMPUTERS USED CLOTHING THAT PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS SELL TO HELP FINANCE THEIR TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND THE PURCHASE OF LOCAL PRODUCTS.
