HEALTH AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS: AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC, THE ORGANIZATION ORGANIZED AND IMPLEMENTED OUTREACH EFFORTS TO ASSIST ITS MEMBERS WITHIN THE SURROUNDING RURAL AREAS OF PERSON NC AND HALIFAX VA. PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT, GROCERIES, MEDICINE, AND MEAL ASSISTANCE WERE OFFERED DURING THE YEAR. SPECIAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH Z SMITH REYNOLDS FOUNDATION, BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD FOUNDATION, AND HEALTHY NATIVE NORTH CAROLINIANS WERE FORMED TO SERVE THESE NEEDS. (250 TRIBAL MEMBERS, COMMUNITY LEADERS) THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AFFECTED THE TRIBE'S IN PERSON EFFORTS BEGINNING IN MARCH 2020.


YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, GENERAL/OTHER: THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS A WEEK LONG CAMP FOR YOUTH FROM AGES 9 TO 17. THE MISSION OF THE CAMP IS TO EXPOSE THE YOUTH TO THEIR HERITAGE AND CULTURE AS WELL AS HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, COMMUNITY SERVICE, AND LEADERSHIP. THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AFFECTED THE TRIBE'S IN PERSON EFFORTS BEGINNING IN MARCH 2020. THIS YEAR THE YOUTH CAMP WAS HELD VIRTUALLY AND REACHED OVER 50 CHILDREN. THERE WERE 20 VOLUNTEERS WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THIS EFFORT. (70 PARTICIPANTS, VOLUNTEERS) AS PART OF THE HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAM, THE TRIBE SPONSORS A 5K AT MAYO PARK THE SAME TIME AS YOUTH CAMP. IN 2021, THERE WAS A 5K IN-PERSON RACE. (25 PARTICIPANTS, VOLUNTEERS)


ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS, GENERAL/OTHER: THE ORGANIZATION'S OBJECTIVE FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY AND ITS MEMBERS CONTINUES WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF A TRIBAL BUSINESS. THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE GAINED THROUGH THIS EXERCISE ALLOWS THE ORGANIZATION TO BRING AWARENESS AND SELF SUFFICIENCY TO THE COMMUNITY. THE TRIBE WORKS WITH THE LOCAL CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE, LOCAL BUSINESSES, LOCAL GOVT AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS TO PROMOTE THE PROJECTS. (40 TRIBAL VOLUNTEERS AND OTHER SPECIALISTS) THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AFFECTED THE TRIBE'S IN PERSON EFFORTS BEGINNING IN MARCH 2020. THE SUPPLY CHAIN INTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY OF PRODUCT.
