THE ST. JOHNS BAPTIST CHURCH HACKNEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND WAS FORMED BY A BEQUEST OF MILDRED HACKNEY SMITH. THE PURPOSE OF THE BEQUEST WAS TO ESTABLISH A SCHOLARSHIP TRUST FUND TO BE USED TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS TO WORTHWHILE AND DESERVING STUDENTS HAVING HIGH MORAL CHARACTER FOR ADMISSION TO FURMAN, WAKE FOREST, OR WINGATEUNIVERSITIES. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED ON A YEAR-TO-YEAR BASIS TO STUDENT(S) WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE APPLICATION PROCESS AND BEEN APPROVED BY THE COMMITTEE.
