DISABILITY RIGHTS NC CONTINUES TO SUCCESSFULLY ADVOCATE FOR THE LEGAL RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO LIVE IN THEIR COMMUNITIES FREE FROM ABUSE, NEGLECT, DISCRIMINATION, EXPLOITATION, FORCE, AND UNWANTED INSTITUTIONALIZATION; AND TO HAVE EQUALITY OF ACCESS TO SERVICES AND SUPPORTS PEOPLE NEED TO THRIVE, INCLUDING EDUCATION, HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT, AND PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ACCOMMODATIONS.


DISABILITY RIGHTS NC ADVOCATES FOR THE LEGAL RIGHTS OF DISABLED PEOPLE USING A BROAD RANGE OF STRATEGIES, INCLUDING INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, OUTREACH AND EDUCATION, MONITORING OF FACILITIES, INVESTIGATIONS OF ABUSE AND NEGLECT, COALITION AND POLICY WORK, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT FOR SELF-ADVOCACY, INDIVIDUAL REPRESENTATION, AND SYSTEMIC LITIGATION.
