THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO CARRY OUT VOLUNTEER-ASSISTED SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM INSTALLATIONS, THEREBY REDUCING THE COST OF THESE INSTALLATIONS IN ORDER TO MAKE THEM FEASIBLE AND ATTRACTIVE FOR A BROADER CUSTOMER SET, WHILE PROVIDING TRAINING AND HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE WITH VOCATIONAL VALUE TO VOLUNTEERS.

REDUCED-COST SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM INSTALLATION: 120 REDUCED-COST RESIDENTIAL RETROFIT GRID-TIED SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS INSTALLED FOR LOW-ENERGY-USE HOMEOWNERS, FOR A TOTAL OF 557.2 KILOWATTS OF RESIDENTIAL GENERATING CAPACITY. 5 REDUCED-COST NONRESIDENTIAL RETROFIT GRID-TIED SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS INSTALLED FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, FOR A TOTAL OF 147.3 KILOWATTS OF NONRESIDENTIAL GENERATING CAPACITY. 704.5 KILOWATTS INSTALLED IN TOTAL. AVERAGE INSTALLED COST FOR THE RESIDENTIAL SYSTEMS BEFORE SUBSIDIES WAS $2.40/WATT, VERSUS THE LOCAL AVERAGE INSTALLED COST FOR SYSTEMS OF THE SAME TYPE OF APPROXIMATELY $2.80/WATT. AVERAGE INSTALLED COST FOR THE NONRESIDENTIAL SYSTEMS BEFORE SUBSIDIES WAS $1.95/WATT, VERSUS THE LOCAL AVERAGE INSTALLED COST FOR SYSTEMS OF THE SAME TYPE OF APPROXIMATELY $2.40/WATT.


VOLUNTEER SKILL AND SAFETY TRAINING: 7 ONLINE TRAINING SESSIONS HELD FOR A TOTAL OF 200 NEW VOLUNTEERS ATTENDING, BRINGING THE TOTAL NUMBER OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS TO 2682. 125 FIELD SOLAR PROJECT INSTALLATIONS HELD WITH 151 VOLUNTEERS PARTICIPATING ON AT LEAST ONE INSTALLATION.
