FOSTER SAFE, DECENT, AFFORDABLE HOUSING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS FACED BY THE HOMELESS, THOSE AT RISK OF BECOMING HOMELESS, AND LOW INCOME MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.

RENTAL HOUSING. RCCR OPERATES THE SMITH STREET STATION, A TWENTY-NINE (29) UNIT HOUSING FACILITY PROVIDING PERMANENT INDEPENDENT ONE AND TWO PERSON FURNISHED EFFICIENCY APARTMENTS FOR LOW TO MODERATE INCOME PERSONS.


TRANSITIONAL HOUSING. RCCR OWNS AND OPERATES THE SAMARITAN INN, WHICH PROVIDES TRANSITIONAL RESIDENTIAL LIVING WITH SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO HOMELESS ADULT MEN. THE INN HAS A CAPACITY TO SERVE THIRTEEN (13) AT ONCE, WHOM MAY STAY FOR UP TO TWENTY-FOUR (24) MONTHS.


HOME OWNERSHIP. RCCR CONDUCTS HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AND HOME OWNERSHIP COUNSELING PROGRAMS TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT AFFORDABLE, SAFE AND WELL MAINTAINED HOME OWNERSHIP FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING IN THE SERVICE AREA OF KANAWHA, BOONE, PUTNAM AND FAYETTE COUNTIES. INDIVIDUALS WHOSE INCOME IS EIGHTY (80%) PERCENT OR LESS THAN THE MEDIAN INCOME OF THE SERVICE AREA ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE PROGRAM SERVICES, WHICH INCLUDE HOME BUYING AND OWNERSHIP EDUCATION; BUDGET AND CREDIT COUNSELING; FORECLOSURE PREVENTION; AND DEVELOPMENT OF HOUSING WITH DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE AND LOW INTEREST RATE LOANS TO QUALIFYING LOW INCOME HOME BUYERS.


COMMUNITY AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES - RCCR OFFERS COMMUNITY AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL CONGREGATIONS TO LOW INCOME AND HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS. SERVICES INCLUDE RAPID REHOUSING, STREET OUTREACH, A CLOTHING BOUTIQUE, AND A STORAGE CENTER TO INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS. RAPID REHOUSING HELPS FAMILIES WHO ARE CURRENTLY HOMELESS TO QUICKLY FIND HOUSING AND COVER RENTAL START-UP COSTS; TYPICALLY THE SECURITY DEPOSIT AND FIRST 2-6 MONTHS OF RENT. STREET OUTREACH ASSISTS UNSHELTERED INDIVIDUALS WHO MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE SEEK ASSISTANCE OR COME TO THE ATTENTION OF THE HOMELESSNESS SERVICE SYSTEM AND ENSURES THAT PEOPLES BASIC NEEDS ARE MET WHILE SUPPORTING THEM ALONG PATHWAYS TOWARD HOUSING STABILITY. THE CLOTHING BOUTIQUE PROVIDES FREE CLOTHING FOR UNSHELTERED INDIVIDUALS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE KANAWHA VALLEY COLLECTIVE. THE TRANSITIONAL STORAGE CENTER IS A MANAGED STORAGE SERVICE PROVIDED TO PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS TO STORE THEIR PERSONAL BELONGINGS.
