THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR APPLIED LINGUISTICS IS A PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY WHOSE MEMBERS USE A WIDE VARIETY OF THEORETICAL FRAMEWORKS AND METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO ADDRESS A BROAD RANGE OF LANGUAGE-RELATED ISSUES THAT AFFECT INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIETY. THE MISSION OF AAAL IS TO FACILITATE THE ADVANCEMENT AND DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING REGARDING THESE LANGUAGE-RELATED ISSUES IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS AND CONDITIONS IN SOCIETY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

PROMOTES RESEARCH AND ORGANIZES ANNUAL SCHOLARLY CONFERENCES. THE AAAL CONFERENCE IS KNOWN FOR ITS IN-DEPTH SYMPOSIA AND FOCUSED WORKSHOPS ON KEY ISSUES IN APPLIED LINGISTICS. THERE ARE SESSIONS ON A WIDE RANGE OF STIMULATING AND OFTEN PROVOCATIVE RESEARCH STUDIES, IN PROGRESS OR COMPLETED. ACCESS IS PROVIDED TO THE LATEST PUBLICATIONS VIA THE BOOK EXHIBITS. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE AAAL CONFERENCE IS THE PLACE FOR NETWORKING FOR ESTABLISHED AND NEW PROFESSIONALS, AS WELL AS GRADUATE STUDENTS. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE WAS VIRTUAL DUE TO IMPACTS FROM COVID-19.


DISTRIBUTES TO MEMBERS THE ANNUAL REVIEW OF APPLIED LINGUISTICS (ARAL). THE ARAL IS PUBLISHED BY CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS, AND IS THE OFFICIAL JOURNAL FOR THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR APPLIED LINGUISTICS.
