MEMBERSHIP - FOUNDED IN 1920, NCTM IS THE WORLD'S LARGEST MATHEMATICS EDUCATION ORGANIZATION WITH 31,000 MEMBERS AND MORE THAN 200 AFFILIATES THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA. NCTM MEMBERS RECEIVE A WIDE RANGE OF RESOURCES RELATED TO THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF MATHEMATICS FROM PREKINDERGARTEN THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION.
CONFERENCES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - NCTM TYPICALLY HOLDS AN ANNUAL MEETING AND EXPOSITION ALONG WITH THREE SMALLER REGIONAL CONFERENCES EACH YEAR, WITH AN AVERAGE COMBINED ATTENDANCE OF 15,000. CURRICULUM FOCAL POINTS (2006) IDENTIFIES THREE IMPORTANT TOPICS AT EACH GRADE LEVEL FROM PRE-K-I AND IS THE NEXT STEP IN IMPLEMENTING THE STANDARDS.
