THE INTERNATIONAL COALITION OF BLACK TRADE UNIONISTS EDUCATION CENTER (THE EDUCATION CENTER) WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1972. THE FUND WAS CREATED TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY EDUCATION SUPPORT AND HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS TO ATTEND COLLEGE. THE RECIPIENTS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS ARE HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS CHOSEN AT RANDOM FROM A POOL OF ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE REQUIRED APPLICATION CRITERIA.

THE EDUCATION CENTER TYPICALLY RECEIVES GRANT ALLOTMENTS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL CHEMICAL WORKERS UNION COUNCIL (ICWU). GRANT FUNDS ARE FOR REIMBURSEMENTS OF EXPENSES PAID FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF WASTE MANAGEMENT TRAINING, CONSULTING AND RELATED PROGRAM EXPENSES. THIS GRANT IS PART OF THE EDUCATION CENTERS AND THE COALITION OF BLACK TRADE UNIONISTS COMMUNITY ACTION AND RESPONSE AGAINST TOXICS PROGRAM.
THE EDUCATION CENTER RECEIVED A GRANT FROM ONE WORLD FUND DURING 2019 TO FUND AND ESTABLISH A GLOBAL AFRICAN WORKERS INSTITUTE (GAWI) ONLINE PUBLICATION. ADDITIONALLY THE EDUCATION CENTER PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUPPORTS IN COMMUNITY EDUCATION EFFORTS.
