ANACOSTIA COMMUNITY BOATHOUSE ASSOCIATION (ACBA) IS A VOLUNTEER-RUN ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR NON-MOTORIZED RECREATIONAL WATER ACTIVITIES SUCH AS ROWING AND PADDLING THROUGH ITS MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS, WHICH INCLUDE FOUR HIGH SCHOOLS, A UNIVERSITY, THREE COMMUNITY-BASED CLUBS AND AN ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATION.

IN 2022, ACBA'S NINE CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS' OVER 1,000 MEMBERS PARTICIPATED IN WELL OVER 2,000 ORGANIZED PRACTICES AT AND FROM THE BOATHOUSE. ON OUR RACKS AND DOCKS, ACBA STORED 238 NON-MOTORIZED WATERCRAFT AND 30 MOTORIZED LAUNCHES. ACBA HELD SIX MAJOR REGATTAS AT THE SITE, IN ADDITION TO NUMEROUS SCRIMMAGES WITH AREA TEAMS. CUMULATIVELY, ACBA'S ORGANIZATIONS INTRODUCED ROWING AND PADDLING ON THE ANACOSTIA RIVER TO 1,210 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH CAMPS, "LEARN TO" CLASSES, AND ONE DAY EVENTS. ACBA ORGANIZATIONS SPONSORED AND SUPPORTED INCLUSIVITY ON THE ANACOSTIA RIVER WITH THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMS; ATHLETES WITHOUT LIMITS; (AWL INTELLECTUAL IMPAIRMENT (ATHLETES WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL IMPAIRMENT); AWL VETERAN LEADERS (ACTIVE DUTY & VETERAN MILITARY WITH SERVICE CONNECTED PHYSICAL OR COGNITIVE DISABILITIES); AND AWL YOUTH (ATHLETES OF COLOR). CAPITAL JUNIORS (SERVES DC AND AREA YOUTH), CAPITAL ADAPTIVE ROWING PROGRAM (ADULTS AND YOUTHS WITH PHYSICAL AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES), WE CAN ROW (CANCER SURVIVORS AND PATIENTS), GOPINK!DC DRAGON BOAT TEAM (BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS) AND MEDSTAR HOSPITAL NATIONAL REHABILITATION ROWING PROGRAM IN CONJUNCTION WITH CAPITAL ADAPTIVE ROWING PROGRAM (ADULTS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES). ACBA HOSTED ELEVEN COMMUNITY WORK SESSIONS FOR BIOSWALE DIVERSITY, THREE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUTH, WITH 220 VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTING.
