IN SUPPORT OF USAID'S GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE PROGRAM AND OFFICE OF CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND MITIGATION (VIA A SUB-CONTRACT WITH ARD/TETRATECH) FESS UNDERTOOK EXTENSIVE FIELD RESEARCH FOCUSED ON DEFINING LINKAGES BETWEEN CLIMATE CHANGE AND CONFLICT IN BOTH WEST AFRICAN CITIES AND KEY REGIONS IN THE SAHEL. IN ADDITION, FESS DEVELOPED A SERIES OF MAJOR PAPERS ON CLIMATE AND CONFLICT IN WEST AFRICA AND THE SAHEL. FESS UNDERTOOK EXTENSIVE RESEARCH IN SUPPORT OF POLICY DEVELOPMENT FOR THE GLOBAL RESILIENCE CHALLENGE, FOCUSING PARTICULARLY ON THE USE OF MOBILE TECHNOLOGY TO SUPPORT WOMEN FARMERS IN ETHIOPIA IMPROVE ACCESS TO CRITICAL CLIMATE AND AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION.
