SYSTEMS AND PRACTICES: OVER THE PAST YEAR, THERE HAS BEEN GREAT MOMENTUM IN ADVANCING THE PROGRAMMATIC WORK AT POWER TO DECIDE TO VARIOUS AUDIENCES NATIONALLY, INCLUDING ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES, WITH NATIONAL THOUGHT LEADERS, THROUGH OUR ONLINE INITIATIVES, AND WITH HEALTH PRACTITIONERS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES. KEY INITIATIVES INCLUDE ONE KEY QUESTION, BEDSIDER, OUR REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING WORK, INNOVATION NEXT, AND OUR CAMPUS SEXUAL-HEALTH PROGRAMS. ONE KEY QUESTION IS A SIMPLE AND TRANSFORMATIVE TOOL THAT FOR HEALTH PROVIDERS, SOCIAL SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND CHAMPIONS WHO SUPPORT PEOPLE WHO MAY GET PREGNANT AGED 18-50, TO ROUTINELY ASK, "WOULD YOU LIKE TO BECOME PREGNANT IN THE NEXT YEAR?" CLINICAL AND NON-CLINICAL PROVIDERS USE THE TOOL TO START THE CONVERSATION ABOUT IF, WHEN, AND UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES PEOPLE WANT TO GET PREGNANT AND HAVE A CHILD. POWER TO DECIDE HAS THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS TO ALL ONE KEY QUESTION ACTIVITIES, TRAININGS, AGREEMENTS, AND LICENSES. IN 2021, NEARLY 1,000 LEARNERS ENROLLED IN OUR ONE KEY QUESTION ONLINE SUITE OF TRAININGS. WE ALSO LAUNCHED OUR ONE KEY QUESTION CHAMPIONS TRAINING TO SUPPORT GROUPS IN IMPLEMENTING ONE KEY QUESTION AT THEIR SITES. OUR PARTNER, ALLIANCE CHICAGO, RECEIVED A GRANT FROM THE AGENCY FOR HEALTHCARE RESEARCH AND QUALITY TO FURTHER EVALUATE ONE KEY QUESTION. POWER TO DECIDE IS SERVING IN THE CO-INVESTIGATOR ROLE FOR THIS EVALUATION, ALONG WITH A PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR FROM ALLIANCE CHICAGO. THIS RESEARCH AIMS TO BUILD ON PREVIOUS STUDIES THAT HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE PROMISE OF ONE KEY QUESTION IN THE PRIMARY CARE SETTING.BEDSIDER IS AN ONLINE BIRTH CONTROL INTERVENTION THAT DELIVERS INFORMATION ABOUT THE FULL RANGE OF BIRTH CONTROL IN A VOICE THAT RESONATES WITH YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH BEDSIDER.ORG AND ITS RELATED SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS. IT SUPPORTS PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WANT TO GET PREGNANT IN ACCESSING AND USING CONTRACEPTION. BEDSIDER ALSO INCLUDES BEDSIDER PROVIDERS AND BCBENEFITS, A CONTRACEPTIVE ACCESS FUND. BEDSIDER PROVIDERS SUPPORTS HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS IN DELIVERING QUALITY REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE BY PROVIDING RESOURCES, TRAINING, AND CLINIC SUPPORT MATERIALS. THROUGH OUR BEDSIDER PLATFORM, WE REACH MILLIONS OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND PROVIDERS EACH YEAR. BCBENEFITS HELPS PEOPLE OVERCOME THE BARRIERS THEY FACE IN ACCESSING CONTRACEPTION. IN 2021, BCBENEFITS PROVIDED MORE THAN 1,500 PEOPLE WITH VOUCHERS TO ACCESS TO A YEAR'S WORTH OF CONTRACEPTION THROUGH TELEHEALTH SERVICES OR BY PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR TRANSPORTATION COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH AN APPOINTMENT FOR CONTRACEPTION. POWER TO DECIDE WORKED WITH LEADERS AND PRACTITIONERS FROM MORE THAN 50 NATIONAL, STATE, AND LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS TO BUILD A NATIONWIDE REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING MOVEMENT THAT VALUES AND PROVIDES A SYSTEM OF SUPPORT WHICH MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR EVERY PERSON-NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE OR WHERE THEY LIVE-TO HAVE THE POWER AND SERVICES TO DETERMINE IF, WHEN, AND UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES TO HAVE A CHILD, AND IN DOING SO, SUPPORT A HEALTHY START FOR THE NEXT GENERATION. A CULTURE OF REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING IS ONE IN WHICH ALL PEOPLE HAVE ACCESS TO THE SUPPORTS AND SERVICES THEY NEED TO DETERMINE IF, WHEN, AND UNDER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES TO HAVE A CHILD AND TO SUPPORT A HEALTHY START FOR THE NEXT GENERATION. POWER TO DECIDE HAS AND WILL CONTINUE TO WORK COLLECTIVELY TOWARDS ADVANCING A MOVEMENT-BUILDING ROADMAP TO BUILD, ALIGN, AND ENHANCE SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT THAT ENABLE A CULTURE OF REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING. WE AIM TO USE OUR EXISTING, WIDELY INFLUENTIAL RESOURCES SUCH AS BEDSIDER, BEDSIDER PROVIDERS AND OUR THANKS, BIRTH CONTROL CAMPAIGN TO ADVANCE THE REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING MOVEMENT. SINCE 2017, THE COLLECTIVE HAS DEVELOPED A NATIONAL BLUEPRINT FOR ACTION WHICH WAS DEVELOPED AS AN AGENDA FOR CHANGE, OUTLINING MACRO LEVEL ACTIONS THAT COULD RESULT IN ESTABLISHING REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING AS A NATIONAL PRIORITY. IN ADDITION TO THE NATIONAL BLUEPRINT, A SHARED NARRATIVE AND MESSAGING FRAMEWORK WAS DEVELOPED ALONG WITH A PLACE-BASED IMPLEMENTATION TOOLKIT. POWER TO DECIDE AIMS TO FURTHER DISSEMINATE THE REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING FRAMEWORK AND DEVELOP A REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING MEASUREMENT INDEX. CREATION OF A FLAGSHIP WEBSITE AS A DESTINATION FOR REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING ALLOWS FOR THE AMPLIFICATION OF THIS WORK AS WELL AS THE DISSEMINATION OF TOOLS AND RESOURCES. THE SITE WILL PROVIDE A SPACE FOR THOUGHT LEADERSHIP, INNOVATION AND THE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS RELATED TO REPRODUCTIVE WELL-BEING.


MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS: THE MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM ENCOMPASSES POWER TO DECIDE'S CONTENT CREATION, MEDIA RELATIONS, SOCIAL AND DIGITAL ACTIVITIES, AND ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA\PARTNERSHIPS AND MARKETING ACTIVITIES. THE MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS TEAM AT POWER TO DECIDE WORKS TO ENSURE THAT THE ISSUE OF UNPLANNED PREGNANCY REMAINS IN THE PUBLIC'S VIEW. WE USE AN INTEGRATED APPROACH CREATE A NARRATIVE THAT CHANGES CULTURE THROUGH BY DIRECTLY COMMUNICATING MESSAGES, IDEAS, AND ACTIONS AS WELL AS TO MARKET AND COMMUNICATE THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAMS, CAMPAIGN, AND OUR POLICY WORK ON THE STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL THROUGH VARIOUS MEDIA PLATFORMS.BY SERVING AS EXPERT ADVISORS AND CONSULTANTS TO OUR MEDIA PARTNERS, WE ARE ABLE TO INTEGRATE STORY LINES AND INFORMATION ABOUT UNPLANNED PREGNANCY, CONTRACEPTION, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, SEX ED AND OTHER REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH TOPICS DIRECTLY INTO MEDIA AND DIGITAL CONTENT CONSUMED BY OUR TARGET AUDIENCES. OVER OUR 25-YEAR HISTORY, POWER TO DECIDE HAS PARTNERED WITH MORE THAN 100 TOP MEDIA OUTLETS AND OUR INFORMATION HAS FEATURED IN MORE THAN 5,000 TELEVISION SHOWS, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND STREAMING FORMATS, AND MAGAZINE (PRINT AND DIGITAL) ARTICLES. POWER TO DECIDE ALSO LICENSES CONTENT TO GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS NATIONWIDE, INCLUDING PLANNED PARENTHOOD.


PUBLIC POLICY:POWER TO DECIDE WORKS TO PROTECT, SUPPORT, AND EXPAND FEDERAL AND STATE POLICIES THAT INCREASE ACCESS TO QUALITY SEXUAL HEALTH INFORMATION AND ACCESS TO THE FULL SPECTRUM OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE, INCLUDING CONTRACEPTION AND ABORTION. AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL, POWER TO DECIDE WORKED TO PROTECT THE TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION (TPP) PROGRAM, THE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY EDUCATION PROGRAM (PREP), THE TITLE X PROGRAM, MEDICAID COVERAGE OF FAMILY PLANNING, AND NO CO-PAY COVERAGE OF BIRTH CONTROL IN THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA). WE WORKED WITH MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO INTRODUCE THE REAL EDUCATION AND ACCESS FOR HEALTHY YOUTH ACT TO BUILD ON EXISTING INVESTMENTS IN EVIDENCE-BASED HIGH QUALITY SEXUAL HEALTH EDUCATION. WE WORKED TO SUCCESSFULLY REPLACE THE TITLE X RULE THAT WENT INTO EFFECT IN 2019 AND SEVERELY LIMITED CONTRACEPTIVE ACCESS WITH A NEW RULE THAT WILL EXPAND CONTRACEPTIVE ACCESS AND HEALTH EQUITY. WE ALSO WORKED TO ADVANCE POLICIES THAT WOULD REDUCE BARRIERS TO ABORTION CARE, INCLUDING THE ELIMINATION OF THE HYDE AMENDMENT FROM THE PRESIDENT'S BUDGET AND THE HOUSE-PASSED FY 2022 APPROPRIATIONS BILL AND THE PASSAGE OF THE WOMEN'S HEALTH PROTECTION ACT (WHPA) IN THE HOUSE. WE EXPANDED OUR CONTRACEPTIVE ACCESS TOOLKIT TO ADD STATES THAT HAVE PASSED INNOVATIVE CONTRACEPTIVE ACCESS POLICIES AND HIGHLIGHTING DIFFERENCES IN TELEHEALTH POLICY DURING THE COVID PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY. WE MAINTAINED A FEDERAL POLICY ACTION CENTER FOR OUR PARTNERS AND PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE WITH POLICYMAKERS ON ISSUES CRITICAL TO REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE ACCESS AND INFORMATION.
