CERTIFICATION PROGRAM: NATION'S FIRST WOMEN BUSINESS ENTERPRISE (WBE) CERTIFIER, PROVIDES A NATIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES. THE CERTIFICATE, CALLED "WOMEN BUSINESS ENTERPRISSE" CERTIFICATE, ENSURES THAT A PRIVATE, FOR-PROFIT COMPANY IS LEGITIMATELY CONTROLLED AND OWNED 51% BY WOMEN. NWBOC HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE U.S. SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (SBA) TO BE A THIRD-PARTY CERTIFIER FOR WOMEN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS FEDERAL CONTRACTS. THE TWO LEVELS OF CERTIFICATION FOR "WOMEN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS" (WOSB) AND "ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED WOMEN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS" (EDWOSB) WILL DIRECTLY BENEFIT MANY WOMEN-OWNED COMPANIES ACROSS THE NATION.
