AMERICAN FRIENDS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC (AFOCR) IS THE VOICE OF THE AMERICAN COMMUNITY SUPPORTING CLOSE & STRONG CZECH-U.S. RELATIONS. WE ADVOCATE FOR THE CZECHS AS A BULWARK OF FREEDOM & DEMOCRACY IN CENTRAL EUROPE, A REGION VITAL TO U.S. INTERESTS. WE FOSTER TIES IN THE AREAS OF DIPLOMACY, GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS, BUSINESS, SECURITY, & EDUCATION. AFOCR WAS FOUNDED TO ADVOCATE FOR CZECH ADMISSION INTO THE NORTH ATLANTIC TREATY ORGANIZATION. SINCE 1995, WE HAVE WORKED TO:- SPONSOR VISITING CZECH PARLIAMENTARIANS TO SHADOW MEMBERS OF THE U.S. CONGRESS & MEET WITH U.S. GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS- HELP BUILD & ENGAGE THE CZECH CAUCUS IN THE U.S. CONGRESS & OFFER TO CONDUCT BRIEFINGS FOR CONGRESS & THE STATE DEPARTMENT- MEET WITH OFFICIALS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC TO FOSTER COOPERATION & UNDERSTANDING- COOPERATE & PARTNER WITH THE EMBASSY OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC TO THE U.S. TO CONDUCT EDUCATIONAL & COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS- HOST LECTURES & SEMINARS WITH U.S. & CZECH POLITICAL & ACADEMIC LEADERS

BI-LATERAL RELATIONS & OUTREACH: AFOCR WORKS CLOSELY WITH OFFICIALS ON BOTH SIDES ON VARIOUS INITIATIVES TO PROMOTE THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION. WE SPONSOR AND COORDINATE FLAGSHIP EVENTS, ORGANIZE AND SUPPORT PARLIAMENTARY EXCHANGES BETWEEN US AND CZECH LEGISLATORS AND PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR SPECIFIC PROJECTS.


AFOCR MASARYK PROJECT: AFOCR SUPERVISES AND PROVIDES FUNDS FOR THE REGULAR UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE OF THE TOM GARRIGUE MASARYK MEMORIAL STATUE AND SURROUNDING NATIONAL PARK LAND IN WASHINGTON, D.C. WE HOLD MULTIPLE COMMERATIVE EVENTS EACH YEAR IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CZECH AND SLOVAK EMBASSY IN WASHINGTON, D.C. TO HONOR TOMAS GARRIGUE MASARYK, THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
