SOUTHERN MARYLAND NAVY ALLIANCE IS A PRIVATE SOCIAL WELFARE ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO SUPPORT, PROMOTE, AND ENHANCE THE INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL AND INFRASTRUCTURE AT PATUXENT RIVER AND ST. INIGOES AS AN ECONOMIC ASSET AND RESOURCE TO THE SOUTHERN MARYLAND REGION.

ALL ONGOING ACTIVITIES AND PARTICIPATION IN FURTHERANCE OF THE MISSION, AND INITIATIVES TO ADDRESS THE VARIOUS CHALLENGES FACED BY THE COMMUNITY'S HEAVY RELIANCE ON FEDERAL PROGRAMS AND FUNDING.- EFFORTS TO COMBAT ENCROACHMENT, TO BRING A GREATER UNIVERSITY SYSTEM OF MARYLAND PRESENCE TO THE REGION, AND TO ENHANCE FACILITIES AT SMHEC AND OTHER SITES IN ST. MARY'S COUNTY TO INCLUDE R&D, INCUBATOR LABS, AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS AND SIMILAR COMPONENTS.- EFFORTS TOWARD CREATING A PROSPEROUS ECONOMY INDEPENDENT OF FEDERAL FUNDING AND ATTRACTIVE TO NEW INDUSTRY.- ACTIVE PARTICIPATION WITH GROUPS RELEVANT TO THE MISSION OF SMNA.- MANAGEMENT OF GRANTS AND CONTRACTS FOR ANALYSES, REPORTING, AND REPRESENTATION.
