TRAINS COMMUNICATIONS PROFESSIONALS IN A CHANGING MEDIA ENVIRONMENT, PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF JOURNALISTS, RECOGNIZES EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM, AND PROMOTES A FREE PRESS, THE CORNERSTONE OF A FREE SOCIETY.

FALLEN JOURNALISTS MEMORIAL - THE FOUNDATION WORKS TO ENACT LEGISLATION, RAISE FUNDS AND BUILD A FALLEN JOURNALISTS MEMORIAL THAT WILL PAY TRIBUTE TO THE REPORTERS, PHOTOJOURNALISTS, PRODUCERS, EDITORS AND OTHERS WHO HAVE DIED WHILE PERFORMING THEIR JOBS AS JOURNALISTS.


EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS - THE INSTITUTE SPONSORS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR JOURNALISTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC RELATED TO CURRENT RESEARCH TOPICS AND COMPUTER USAGE. REGULARLY SCHEDULED LITERARY EVENTS HIGHLIGHT BOOKS AND AUTHORS WHOSE SUBJECTS ARE RELEVANT TO THE WASHINGTON, D.C. COMMUNITY.


SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS - THE INSTITUTE PROVIDES AWARDS TO JOURNALISTS AND STUDENTS, WHICH RECOGNIZES THEIR OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCES. THE INSTITUTE ALSO HAS A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING SCHOLARSHIPS: SCHOLARSHIP FOR JOURNALISM DIVERSITY, ELLEN MASIN PERSINA SCHOLARSHIP, FELDMAN FELLOWSHIP FOR GRADUATE STUDIES IN JOURNALISM, AND THE RICHARD G. ZIMMERMAN JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP.
