Part 3 - Line 1

TO PROMOTE, COORDINATE, SUPPORT AND CONDUCT EDUCATION, PREVENTION AND FEDERAL PROGRAMS TO REDUCE THE RATE OF HIV INFECTION IN YOUTH, AND TO SERVE THE NEEDS OF THOSE ALREADY INFECTED, THEREBY SAVING LIVES AND ENRICHING THE FUTURE OF THE COMMUNITY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

HIV PREVENTION:METRO TEEN AIDS (MTA) PROVIDES A RANGE OF PREVENTION SERVICES TO YOUTH AT HIGH-RISK FOR HIV INFECTION. MTA MAKES APPROXIMATELY 15,000 CONTACTS WITH YOUTH EACH YEAR. PREVENTION SERVICES INCLUDES MASS MEDIA, OUTREACH AND HIV TESTING AND COUNSELING.


ADVOCACY:METRO TEEN AIDS COORDINATES SEVERAL COALITIONS THAT ADVOCATE FOR THEHIGHEST QUALITY SERVICES DC YOUTH. FOR EXAMPLE, METRO TEEN AIDS ANDIT'S COALITION PARTNERS EDUCATED CITY LEADERS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF STRONG HEALTH EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS.


HIV CARE:METRO TEEN AIDS (MTA) PROVIDES EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT TOHIV INFECTED YOUTH. MTA ALSO WORKS TO GET AND KEEP HIV POSITIVE YOUTH CONNECTED TO MEDICAL SERVICES. MTA HAS PROVIDED HIV CARE SERVICES TO MORE THAN 50 HIGH-NEED HIV POSITIVE YOUTH.


PROGRAM EVALUATION/SUPPORT:GENERAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE AFTER-SCHOOL YOUTH CENTER ON CAPITOL HILL,YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND AN ORAL HISTORY PROJECT.
