THE MAINE COUNSELING ASSOCIATION ORGANIZES A STATE-WIDE ANNUAL CONFERENCE THAT BRINGS TOGETHER MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION AS WELL AS GUIDANCE COUNCSELORS FROM AROUND THE STATE TO EDUCATE PARTICIPANTS ON THE ISSUES THAT STUDENTS IN MAINE SCHOOLS FACE DAILY INCLUDING POVERTY, ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS, FOSTER CHILDREN AND HOMELESSNESS, SOCIAL ISSUES SUCH AS TEEN SEX AND ALCOHOL ABUSE, STUDENTS WITH AUTISM, EXPOSURE TO FINANCIAL LITERACY AND OTHER COMMON GUIDANCE ISSUES.
