TO RENOVATE OR BUILD SAFE, DECENT AND AFFORDABLE HOMES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE SERVICE AREA THAT INCLUDES ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, BALTIMORE CITY, BALTIMORE COUNTY AND HOWARD COUNTY. HOUSES ARE CONSTRUCTED PARTLY WITH VOLUNTEER LABOR AND FUTURE HOMEBUYERS CONTRIBUTE 250 HOURS OF "SWEAT EQUITY." A CLUSTERED DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY ALSO HELPS TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITIES. HOUSES ARE SOLD WITH NO-INTEREST MORTGAGE LOANS. MORE THAN 785 FAMILIES HAVE PURCHASED HOMES SINCE 1982.


THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES THE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY "RESTORE", A RETAIL OPERATION, WHERE HOME FURNISHINGS, APPLIANCES AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS ARE DONATED OR PURCHASED AND THEN SOLD TO THE COMMUNITY AT A GREATLY REDUCED PRICE.
