ART INSTRUCTION: PROVIDES INSTRUCTION IN VISUAL ARTS, DANCE, CERAMICS, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND MUSIC FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS BUILDING CONFIDENCE, CREATIVITY AND COMMUNITY. THROUGH ITS MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTS PROGRAMS TAUGHT BY TEACHING ARTISTS WITH A PASSION TO SHARE THEIR DISCIPLINES, CHAW FOSTERS A SAFE AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, EXPERIENCING THE ARTISTIC PROCESS, AND EXPANDING APPRECIATION OF THE ARTS.

OUTREACH: THROUGH WORKSHOPS, EXHIBITS, AND PERFORMANCES, PROVIDE INNOVATE ARTS PROGRAMMING FOR THE GREATER COMMUNITY.


ARTS INSTITUTE FOR CREATIVE ADVANCEMENT AS PROGRAM: THE ARTS INSTITUTE FOR CREATIVE ADVANCEMENT IS AN INTENSIVE EDUCATION AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM IN TECHNICAL THEATER TO TRAIN YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE DISCONNECTED FROM OR UNDER-ENGAGED IN SCHOOL AND WORK TO ENTER DC'S CREATIVE ECONOMY. YOUTH AGES 18-24 ARE PREPARED FOR CAREERS AS OFFSTAGE THEATER PROFESSIONALS WHOSE ROLES INCLUDE LIGHTING AND AUDIO ENGINEERING, SET CONSTRUCTION, SCENIC PAINTING, RIGGING, AND STAGE MANAGEMENT. THIS IS A COLLECTIVE IMPACT WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH 17 OF THE LARGEST ARTS EDUCATION ORGANIZATIONS IN DC. CHAW SERVES AS A PARTNER AND MANAGER FOR THE PROGRAM.
